hey guys

I don't know whether it is a bug or something but my BONIC cliet v4.09 seems not responding. I had only one WU left with two WUs processing. When both finished their processing and the last one started the BONIC client window is not responding although the WU processing is going on at 100% CPU usage. I have P4 processor with hyperthreading. So with one WU processing it usually shows 50% CPU usage? I tried restarting the client but everytime it starts with the one WU processing and then window hangs up. No further messages are shown of the client trying to upload results. Can anybody tell me what has happened? I also have 13 results waiting to be uploaded. Please help.

4.09 seems to have trouble with multiple processor systems. If you only run it on one processor it will run fine, but when it runs out of work and is using both processors it will hang.

Had incorrect function for me also when using single processor mode with CPDN and SETI@H same time.

It would only download one seti WU even though my general prefs on both websites were set to 2 days. About 20 minutes before end of WU completion it would then download a 2nd WU (or attempt to anyway).

Is this fact or observation? If fact, where from? I would be disappointed if 4.09 was known not to work on SMP.

Was 4.09 released or did it escape?

I don't see either of those problem,s on any one of my 4 HT machines. Granted I use the default buffer length of 4 days, and I am on 3 projects, so I always have work to do ...

My mac with its dual CPUs also has no troubles with either ...

I am definitely observing the hang on a SMP machine. I'm embarrased to say, but I have a dual Pentium II 333 machine running Windows 2000 (got 512 MB of memory). 4.05 ran perfectly. 4.09 hangs as described. Tried to reinstall and did same thing. Back leveled to 4.05 and runs fine again. Now SETI is saying tht it won't give work units because the core needs to be upgraded. Looks like I'll have to just put all of my meager CPU power to Climate Predictor and not participate in SETI until they fix the software...
