I noticed sysload was up to 2.00 and a quick look at top showed me that BOINC was running l@h and s@h at the same time. That isn't supposed to happen on a P-III CPU, to the best of my knowledge. Oops.

I've see this too on an AMD 2200 running Linux..

It was seti and LHC.

Boinc 4.09 was the cc
