Do you feel that the manual intervention when trying to use an opt app is to difficult for you to handle ?I did the manual intervention pretty much just fine on the 3 windows boxes. The apps for those just seem to work. I'm good with Linux, and got good at doing opti-apps recently, so I figured it should be the same cut-and-paste technique as with Windows, but it just wants to fight. (Cutting hair) Then the name of that processor is "Sempron 64 3400+".I know what my hardware is, but the box for that CPU that is sitting right in front of me and it doesn't say Sempron64 on it.. just "Sempron", "AMD 64", and "3400+ Socket 754". CPU-Z doesn't mention 64 except x86_64, however, it does say SSE3... (I had Windows on that rig a year or two ago, and got tired of it, so I did 64-bit Linux). The hardware review I found must have been wrong then..they didn't mention anything about SSE3. here's what I get from the SSE2 [AMD] 64-bit opti app.. altair: test-sse2 # ./setiathome-5.15.x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu & [1]+ Exit 148 altair: test-sse2 # cat stderr.txt SETI@home error -108 Unknown error from boinc_init_diagnostics() File: main.cpp Line: 229 altair: test-sse2 # Alright, and the 32-bit SSE2 app, V2.4 for kernel 2.6 seems to run fine in standalone. So maybe an issue with the v2.4 64-bit app? [edit: Just went with the AP SSE3 app that was posted above, and the 32-bit v2.4 for kernel 2.6 SSE2 app for MB in app_info and restarted BOINC and the in-progress MB resumed just fine and started dropping 5-10 seconds/interval from the ETA, and I selected all the MBs and suspended them to make sure my one AP would start, and it starts and processes without compute errors, so I think I finally got it. Finally. I'll know in a day or two if the AP app is faster or about the same. Thanks for the help and input you guys. I'd like to continue helping development in the future, so I'll try to stay tuned for new developments.] Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

My latest AP WU on Linux using the optimized app took only 46 hours but exited with the following message: Found 30 single pulses and 30 repeating pulses, exiting. Result is still pending, awaiting for a wingman. Tullio |

My latest AP WU on Linux using the optimized app took only 46 hours but exited with the following message: I had one like this, my wingman give the same result and we were both given credit. I think these are like the -9 results that MB gets. |

Hi Everyone, I have installed the SSE3 optimised app, restarted BOINC, but how can I tell if it is using the optimised app or the regular app. Under tasks it just lists the app as astropulse 4.35 (task started prior to install) & 4.36 (all tasks downloaded since). Since the install I have noticed that only AP WUs are being downloaded, rather than a mix of AP & S@H. All feedback appreciated. Thanks |

Hi Everyone, Which operating system (Windows, Linux, Mac etc.) do you ask for ? (Sorry that info is not available to the public as your hosts are hidden.) _\|/_ U r s |

here's another one Windows 64bit SSE3 -> Do you have any estimates on the improvement one could expect running this 64 bit AP-OP-APP rather than the original 32 bit one from this thread? I've grabbed it and will put it on my home system once it's not actively running any AP WU's. :-) |

I don't know if it's faster... never crunched an ap before. Guess you'll have to figure that out on your own. Here's a pic of what the boinc shows ( if that's of any help) CPU: XEON 5365 @ 3GHz Join BOINC United now! |

I don't know if it's faster... never crunched an ap before. Fantastic. :-) I'll post back here once I get a chance to install it and run a few WU's. Thanks again Crunch3r. Unless someone else (like Fred) beats me to it. :-) |

Just an update: the Linux 32-bit SSE AP app Crunch3r posted is running on that Sempron since last night, and is at 36% in 22 hours. So far, it's looking like about 55% of the original time of 135 hours. Good job. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Howdy, Thanks. I'll give it a try on my iMac 3.06 Core 2 Duo. Haven't got any work units yet but if I got my app info setup correctly to run alongside MB then all should start getting some units. Had to reinstall BOINC to correct permissions, but that is no big deal. (easier then going into the terminal to correct them) Team MacNN - The best Macintosh team ever. |

My first Linux SSE3 AP WorkUnits are about to finish, but it seems clear that the Linux SSE3 AP Binary is quite a tick slower for me than the Win32 SSE3 AP Binary (unless there's a natural runtime variation involved, similar to the Angle Range of S@H Enhanced) Win32 Athlon64 X2 4800+ : 143057s (finished) Lin32 Athlon64 X2 5200+ : 168000s (projected, 2 WorkUnits ~90% done) Corrected for CPU clock that means the Linux Client runs 18.8% slower than the Win32 Client on the Athlon64 X2 platform. Still, an excellent improvement over the stock App :) (and btw, not bad at all for a "quick Linux port" :D ) |

Results for both optimized AP linux32 apps have finished on T7200, openSusE 10.3 64bit : sse3 rid 1018873284 speedupfactor: 2.47 times faster than stock AP v4.36. _sse rid 1021369667 speedupfactor: 2.45 times faster than stock AP v4.36. sse3 won by half an hour on this host. Both results are waiting for wingmen now. _\|/_ U r s |

Hi, I can't download any file you provided, the site always gives me the 403 error (Access forbidden!), why? here's another one Windows 64bit SSE3 -> Best regards, YG Welcome To Team China! |

Addon : Seems the Linux App has problems Identifying the CPU, so far the Linux Results also did not validate (appears to differ from that of a Win32 Host running V4.35) AP Result Host Linux SSE3 AP Client sees the AM2 Athlon64 X2 5200+ as a So939 Sempron 5100+ and also identifies the L2 Cache wrong. I had the AP Version changed to 4.36 as I read in the Forum but have now set it back to 4.35 (maybe that was the mistake) |

Another status update for all of you.. My two Linux boxes have completed an AP unit each, being entirely crunched with the 32-bit SSE Linux app. They come in at about 65 hours. My Windows boxes run about 50-55, but 65 from 135 is a huge improvement. I've had a total of 14 AP WUs be validated and granted in the past week, with 7 of them happening in the last 24 hours. Including the MB opti-app running on these 5 systems, I am about 300 RAC away from doubling my RAC in a week. Just look at this screenshot of my stats. That last point is 2599, by the way. I have under-estimated the power of opti-apps. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

FOR MAC OS USERS After trying Crunch3r's optimized Mac app for Astropulse I saw a significant improvement over the original default app. However it is still well behind AK's Seti enhanced app in credits per day. On my iMac dual core 2 duo 3.06, it took about 21.5 hours to complete and claimed 756 credits. That would be approx 845 credits per day. It started out indicating about 11 hours to complete, but took much longer. Team MacNN - The best Macintosh team ever. |
