sah_splitter galileo Not running
sah_splitter2 milkyway Not running
sah_splitter3 philmor Not running
----------------------------------
why is it we seem to have to beg for info no assimilator,no splitters, no stat updates and no information! And yes i know i can go to my account but that does not tell me my standing world wide or country wide? I have been looking at the posts and see no real information on the problems. Has anybody got the answer?? Please.

Firstly, if they have 1,000,000 plus work units, they do not need to make more ...

So it is natural that the splitters will be down, they don't need to be running.

The assimulator is also the last piece that runs that takes the canonical result and posts it to the science database. We don't need that runing either ...

So, what more did you want to know?

If you did not know what those were, you could have looked them up in the glossary and found out for yourself... I grant you it is a drag to have to put in a little effort to read and learn.

Oh, and for whatever reason the XML statistics information is not being issued so the 3rd party sites cannot update the numbers.

You just haven't heard about this site yet: http://www.setisynergy.com/stats/
put your user name in the search at the bottom of the page and your individual stats will come up. It is about 3 days behind right now but is usually pretty accurate.
As for the stuff being down, you just have to start checking more often, it is up sometimes.

Hmm...

Yes I am very pleased to hear that the Berkely folks have all the information they need and so don't really bother with getting new material.

But Its really taken ALL the fun out of letting SETI run on our systems.

I recall the days of competition.. Where I was so close to getting 600 data units. I just HAD to beat the guy infront of me. All that is GONE.

The only think that BOINC allows us to do is... hm... uhm.. Well... NOTHING.

They dont need more data units, the ladder boards and competition is GONE (more or less)... Ok.. So what the hell reason is there to use Seti anymore??

Finding ET ? You might have completely misunderstood SETI's goal...

Competition is gone? Since when? We are constantly taunting each other with our stats on #setiathome on EFNet. And of course with my (and other) stats sites that combine cross-project stats, there is MORE competition as far as I'm concerned. You can be beating someone in one project but they are about to pass you in another... it gets the adrenaline pumping! :)

As far as seti's XML exports go... They were turned off a couple of days ago due to excessive database load. They are in the process of getting a replica DB up that will handle the XML and probably a lot of the website stuff. This will take a LOT of load off of the primary database server and should increase the speed of credit granting a lot.

Tosh. Utter rubbish. I've just checked and found myself at #40. Am I satisfied with that? Nope.

I'm gonna fix it. I'm gonna get to page #1.

More data units? There are MILLIONS we haven't even touched.

Come on man, run it before you kill it :)

I'm not sure what it is you're talking about...

Are you talking about the splitters etc? If so, they'll get up and running when needed.

Is it? It seems to me that all competition is very much alive and well - actually competition has grown, as there's now even a cross-project competition going on. Try going to, let's just say, boincstats.com, which is one of the stats-sites with cross-project stats/leaderboards as well as stats/leaderboards for the individual projects.

> The only think that BOINC allows us to do is... hm... uhm.. Well... NOTHING.

Strange... My boinc is using just about 100% of my CPU right now - not to mention it's even crunching away on a sah wu ;)

> They dont need more data units, the ladder boards and competition is GONE

Who said they don't need more work to be done?

> (more or less)... Ok.. So what the hell reason is there to use Seti anymore??

Same as previously?
