my preferences are set to run both, but in the bionic window, there are only two astropulse tabs. there are two astropulse "crunches" running and no seti@home "crunches" running. is there a reason for this?

Since AstroPulse and SETI are applications from the same project, you get whichever one is available at the time you connect. This could be all of either one, or a mix of the two.

In short it is luck of the draw.
