It is nice that the Boinc System Tray Icon pops up a small "tooltip" to show the progress of the currently running task(s). However, it would be nicer if it would close itself automatically when the cursor moves off of the icon, which is what other System Tray Icons do. Is there any possibility that this modification could be incorporated in a near-future release of BOINC? |

Good idea. I completely agree. |

Mine do go away immediately when I move the mouse away from the icons. BOINC 6.2.19 and Windows XP + Windows 2000 here. Perhaps something that it does on Vista (only)? Or something you may want to set in your OS. |

Can't be Vista only since the OP is using Windows XP. The odd thing is that sometimes I get a "tool tip"/"pop-up" displaying current work in progress with percentages that won't close automatically, and sometimes I simply get "BOINC Manager" that closes automatically. |

Hmmm.... On one computer I get a small tooltip saying "4 tasks running". This one does go away as the mouse moves off. On another computer I get a larger tooltip with a close button, which shows the percentages done. This one will not go away until I click the close button. Since the newer computer with the newer install of BOINC has the tooltip that goes away, maybe the BOINC app has already been changed to to that. |

What version(s) of BOINC are you running? I'm using BOINC v5.10.45 on all my machines. |

On the new machine, I have 6.2.18... will have to wait until Monday to check the version on the work machine unless there is a way on the web to find that out. If not, it was installed 24 Mar 2008 17:07:25 UTC, maybe that will indicate what version is running there. |

If the work computer is the Core 2 E6300 listed in your account, then it is using BOINC v5.10.45. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 is using BOINC v6.2.18. (FYI - there's a new version 6.2.19 available). |

It was changed from a balloon to a tool-tip in 6.2.9 ... |
