Do We Live in a Giant Bubble?

If the notion of dark energy sounds improbable, get ready for an even more outlandish suggestion.

Earth may be trapped in an abnormal bubble of space-time that is particularly devoid of matter.

Scientists say this condition could account for the apparent acceleration of the universe's expansion, for which dark energy currently is the leading explanation. Dark energy is the name given to the hypothetical force that could be drawing all the stuff in the universe outward at an ever-increasing rate. more.....

Whatever you might call it, it is always fascinating and an awesome theory: we are even smaller!! OMG
But that´s maybe good so, because we see no end to all the possibilities, explanations, rules, laws and extra universes and multi-dimension worlds?!?
More stuff to study, more theories to correct and clarify. Future freshmen and Thesis/Masters sought graduates have a lot to study. No unemployment regarding these fields.
Coco: great news reading some lines from you here!
Cheers!

Someone said at CERN in an interview, a scientist named Mr.Rújula I guess is his name, that if the LHC gives us not the answers we are expecting him to produce, it would be a great thing (very positive thinking!) because it would mean that we need to rewrite and re-study all over again, because we did not understand a thing, really nothing!

Indeed so. That would be a truly tremendous discovery and worth all the "Nobel Prizes" awarded so far.

Science is a fantastic adventure to push further against, and to push further away, the horizon of ignorance.

Looks like they got it right in the movie men in black. We live in a locker or maybe a glass marble.

Not neon. Oxygen. If you take the atomic mass as being the number of (electrons) planets in our solar system. 8 is oxygen. Maybe we're in God's lungs... :)

When he exhales, we're done for. Or what'll happen if we're absorbed into His bloodstream?

The fundamental incompatibility of Relativity and Quantum physics is proof enough that, eventually, everything will have to be re-thought.
Most of modern physics is based on the concept of reconciling these two profoundly different views of reality. Personally, I think that a whole new view is needed.
Hopefully, the 'mind' to sort it out has been born and will enlighten us all in our lifetime. And if not, perhaps in the time of our grandchildren.

Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.
