Fair question to ask: 48 countries in Europe. 28 who are competing. I would be embarrassed to be a country that admitted they where so weak individually they needed 27 other countries to help beat the USA. How many days do they play? Sorry SE, According to Ryder-Cup Schedule Tuesday-Thursday are practice days. Matches begin Friday... Friday : 2 rounds (4 matches of foursome & 4 matches fourball) Saturday : 2 rounds (4 matches of foursome & 4 matches fourball) Sunday : 1 round (12 matches singles play) Each team has 12 players...Some players play all matches, while others are given 'rests' by team captains during first 2 days of matches. All players participate in Sunday singles matches. 1 point awarded for each match win 1/2 point awarded for each match 'halved' (tied) Europe needs 14 points to retain cup USA needs 14 1/2 points to win the cup Should be an exciting day of singles play with the USA beginning the day up 9-7 points.
