I'm a big FireFox fan too (using it even now to write this post) but please, this post reads like spam. Don't get me wrong, i agree that firefox is the best browser but please don't shout that loud. People might feel offended by agressive advertising. greetz, Uli |

Does anyone have any ideas how we could form a simple method to express the security advantages of non-IE browsers such as Firefox? Someone said figures from secunia.com could be used, though the website clearly states that its figures should not be used to create a direct comparison. Does anyne know of any other good data sources for such things? We need a bit of science to back up security vulnerability and invulnerability claims. |

> We need a bit of science to back up security vulnerability > and invulnerability claims. > I suggest a simple link to the latest IE-related security updates to microsoft's own site would be sufficient to show what a bug-bag IE really is. For every security update they publish, there already exists 3 new exploits ;) greetz, Uli |

It'll be fun to see how many exploits start popping up in Firefox once it gets enough numbers for hackers to bother with it. ------------------------------------ The game High/Low is played by tossing two nuclear warheads into the air. The one whose bomb explodes higher wins. This game is usually played by people of low intelligence, hence the name High/Low. |

> It'll be fun to see how many exploits start popping up in Firefox once it gets > enough numbers for hackers to bother with it. Yes I tried to get comment on this argument on a technical forum, though all I got was some Yuk Yuk reply about 'ziploc bags' from some dopey trailer trash. Since Firefox doesn't use ActiveX, that instantly cuts out a whole bunch of problems. Also Microsoft seem to be falling over themselves to introduce 'features' into their software that allow your operating system to become closely integrated with the internet - just asking for trouble. Do you know if there are any figures relating to security with Mac browsers? It would be interesting to see if hackers are aiming at IE due to its widespread use or if it is just an attack on Microsoft. |

But I want people to be aware of alternitives to IE. I relly cant stand how slow it is. I did not mean to offend anyone. Sorry if I did. But please give firefox a try. Has anyone successfully subscribed to the RSS feed for the news using FireFox? I've got it installed here and it works OK, but I've had nothing but trouble trying to subscribe to RSS feeds, and I've tried it on two different operating systems now...Linux and Windows 2000. Not much luck! If you *have* used it, please visit my post about Firefox and RSS feeds and tell me how to do it 'cause it ain't working for me! :( |

I installed FireFox 2 days ago and the old dialup + cpu seem to be working faster. As for RSS feeds have not tried that yet. Will before too long, I'll keep a look at my WU completion times but so far 2 of them have finished several hours quicker than any others. That's all for now. |

Yup, I'm using the RSS for several sites. I was having trouble with it saying "loading live bookmarks" (or something like that) for a while, but now it runs just fine. Just set up the RSS for SETI/BOINC... you have to set it up manually (ie go to Bookmarks | manage bookmarks and then to File | New Live bookmark and copy the link in)... but it works... Actually... It doesn't... all the "entries" link back to the SAH classic web page... Interesting... <br /> Feel free to take a look inside my brain |

The latest version is only available for XP SP2. How stupid is that? Regards Hans |

I've got $0.02 in the bank, and I'm dying to spend it - Might as well be here. FireFox is better than Mozilla, but still has that nagging hidden window that I thought would have been gotten rid of by now. As for Thunderbird, the thing looks like it's being run through a XUL interpreter on-the-fly. Both are awful on the Mac - Dunno how the PC side is. I'm using Camino and Unison until F-Fox and T-Bird get their act together. ...oh, man! Now I'm broke! |
