Message 817515 - Posted: 12 Oct 2008, 13:14:25 UTC - in response to Message 817499.

The funny thing is, that my xp computer downloaded a couple of more work units, makes me think that this is an early maintenance call

Downloads have been working fine - it's the uploads that have been problematic. That won't be fixed until Tuesday most likely.

I'm not getting any downloads, but the count of pending uploads on my machines is increasing steadily. If I do a manual update, my version of boinc merely reports 0 task (because the numerous uploads are incomplete) and requests 0 seconds of work (despite having gone through about 1/2 of my queue).

Should I be getting any downloads, I wonder.

Probably not... If you've got more pending uploads than the number of cores (or was it twice the number of cores?) then your host will not request any more work :(

If I had more work units for my Quad core pc, then I would believe that, apparently not so, it has now started on the astropulse, only on one of the 4 cores is crunching it
the truth is out there

Here as well; all of my machines are building up a stack of completed computations that are unable to upload... And the upload server (as of 20 seconds ago) was _still_ listed as "Disabled". Going on approximately 17 hours now.
Hopefully someone at BOINC will notice the anomaly soon.

The good news is that I have plenty of work and the two rigs picking up Astropulse units will hardly notice it. Each AP WU takes 40 hours, so they do provide a periodic break. The other two rigs run MB only, so they're really starting to back up.

The guys are going to need a pretty big plunger to keep Bruno flowing once they get it going.

Wow. Where did this rule come from? I can't see the sense of it, but I'm not following boinc develoment much.

I was beginning to think there was a problem within my own computer.
While I`m receiving work to do, I`m not uploading completed work.

If everyone is experiencing this same problem, there`s a tidal wave of information building up for the SETI computers to deal with when the switch is finally thrown.

Uhh.. I think it's time again for this one..

All people around, press this button to feel better..! ;-D
I pressed him few times.. many times.. hope he's not broken now.. ;-D

I have now ~ 120 results on my Quad ready for upload..

In the USA Monday is holiday..
So latest Tuesday after the maintenance the servers will be well again..
So patience is needed..

You can extend the cache of work (WUs) in your preferences - to be protected for server outages.

Took about half an hour, but 47 uploads off two machines completed. Got 25 downloads for one machine when it got down to the last 3 WUs. AMD X2 system with two cores, so that matches with the <2x # of cpus before starting downloads.

Or maybe coincidence.

It is amaxing how some uploads goes through whilst the next one that has been waiting does not, Still getting http errors on those that do not upload, will wait until later today and see if I run out of work. I have four WUs waiting to be uploaded and four waiting to be done, with around thirteen waiting to be reported. Any ideas when I will get new work?

Seems like everything is back to normal operation. Hundred of work units uploaded and downloaded over night. A few, half a dozen or so, still waiting to be uploaded.
