One of my computers, a p3 600mhz with 512M ram, that is running OpenBSD 4.3 and boinc client 5.10.45 i386-unknown-openbsd + setiathome-5.27_i386-unknown-openbsd never seems to complete it's first task. Last contact with the project was 28 Aug and it has been computing 24/7 ever since.

How long should it take to complete a task on a machine like this? Is there any way to see if it's working or not?

Here is the output of boinc_cmd --get_state from two dates, 3 Sep and 14 Sep:

The application is apparently doing _something_ as it's using >90% of cpu all the time and ~100M of ram, but it feels like it isn't supposed to take this long as the other computers I have finish their tasks much faster.

I'll try the openbsd setup on a computer that finishes tasks within 1-2 days using winxp to see if it will complete there...

Not shure, if it's a problem with the WU or the whole CPU counting is hanging or the WU is hanging. I till try to reproduce this.

Eventualy aborting the WU would help...

Edit: Tried to reproduce this error. It looks like the CPU time and progress counting is hanging. Could you please try to stop the BOINC client and start it again and look if there was a cahnge in the CPU time and progress.
I am working on a fix.

Stopped and started client with this result (restarted between the diff):

$ diff 4.03pm 4.06pm

89c89
< current CPU time: 15.203124
---
> current CPU time: 16.335937

I also stopped/started it on the other computer I mentioned:

$ diff 080914_3.56PM 080914_3.59PM
89c89
< current CPU time: 6.890625
---
> current CPU time: 6.945312

Hope this helped

Strange, now I noticed that the cpu counter is hanging on the first computer, the 600mhz, until i restart the client:

$ diff 080914_3.59PM 080914_4.14PM
$

but on the other one it keeps counting without having to restart:

$ diff 4.06pm 4.12pm
89c89
< current CPU time: 16.335937
---
> current CPU time: 18.281250

I don't know if that is relevant to the problem but better safe than sorry

I've investigated the problem...
Looks like only SETI 5.2x is affected. Older SETI Multibeam versions (5.1x) and the actual Astropulse application works without any problems.

Till I have found cause of the problem, I have put the SETI Mutlibeam application 5.12 on my homepage for download, which works fine. SETI Mutlibeam producing still valid results.

Timo, thank you for the bug report !
