I have noticed that my recent average credit has started increasing dramatically as my work units are now processing with SETI@Home Enhanced 6.03 on my Mac Pro. It doesn't seem to be the case with my MacBook Pro. Have their been optimizations made for the Xeon processors? Has anyone else noticed this? Just curious. Taras |

If you really want to get your RAC up, you might install Alex Kan's optimized applications on your system. This one will be for the Mac Pro http://tbp.berkeley.edu/~alexkan/seti/seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics.zip This one will be for the Macbook Pro http://tbp.berkeley.edu/~alexkan/seti/seti_enhanced-i386-v8-core2-nographics.zip There is a file included called app_info.xml that will need a little editing to make sure that no work units are lost. for MBP copy this code and replace the text already there with it. <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-core2-nographics</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>527</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-core2-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>528</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-core2-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>603</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-core2-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> For the Mac Pro use this one <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>527</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>528</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>603</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>seti_enhanced-i386-v8-xeon-nographics</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> Note, you will not be able to see graphics if you run the optimized application. Make sure that you shut down BOINC before you put the files in place, you will then need to run the BOINC installer to correct some permissions errors. I have an iMac that has been up around 1900 RAC running the optimized app. |

My MacBook Pro's recent average credit has started increasing dramatically as well. It just took a few more days to manifest than on the Mac Pro. |

Myt average has taken a big jump up also, but it didn't have anything to do with the mew SAH client. I got that a few weeks ago but the speed bump just happened a few days ago. I am still wating for a astropulse work unit. I thought the new client was for prossesing them? The new client only processes Multibeam work, you have to download and install the AP app from a different site if you want to work on them. http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/SETI@home%20applications.html |

Would you please let me know how can i make credit and do some research on this forum because i have found so many qualitative stuff over here... You have to download and install the BOINC client to your computer, then start running the SETI@home project. I'm assuming you have a Mac because you're posting in the Mac section. Download BOINC version 6.2.18 from this link and install it on your Mac. Instructions are included. Once it's installed, attach to the SETI@home project and it will start computing for credit. Note: Just to be clear, SETI@home credit isn't worth anything, and you can't buy anything with it. Credit is just a measure of how much work your computer is doing for the project.
