I know this should be possible.. but I just cant get it to behave.

I have Solaris 10 running on an x86 machine.

I have setup Boinc 5.10.45 - and this seems to work fine - it launches and I can attach and un-attach from the Seti@Home project.

But unfortunately it seems to want to delete the seti@home & astropulse clients and then re-download Seti@home 5.28 - which it doesnt know where to find.

Here is a snippet from the log:

---end log snippet

You'll notice it couldnt delete the astropulse program - I chmod'd it so it didnt have write access.

I have setup a "seti" userid and group.

I have the app_info.xml in the projects/setiathome/ folder..

Can anyone explain what Im doing wrong?

Thanks

You need to change the both fields with the SETI application name (setiathome_5.28_i386-pc-solaris) in the app_info.xml into the excatly name of the setiathome application which you are using.

Btw. I have seen, that this system have never cruched SETI before. If you wan't to use AP only there is also a AP only app_info.xml available in the AP package.
If you wan't to crunch SETI and AP you also need to download a SETI application for Solaris x86.

It also looks like the setiathome and astropulse binary is missing in the projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu directory. You can do a reset project, stop the boinc client after the reset, copy the setiathome binary, astropulse binary and the app_info.xml (from the AP package) into the projects directory (/opt/boinc/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/).
Now change the SETI applications name in the app_info.xml and start the boinc_client again with "./boinc_client --update_prefs http://setiathome.berkely.edu".
Eventualy the reset did not work, so a detach and reattach would help. Before you detach, please backup the whole directory project/setiathome.berkeley.edu. Dettach, attach again, stop the boinc client, copy the projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu directory back top the orignial location and start the BOINC client again with the --update_prefs option (same as above).

Well.. I just left it a week or so .. re-ran the boinc_client and it's downloaded work now ... wierd! :/
