Have 2 Ubutntu boxes running and the client on each has stopped performing work. I have rebooted and the client process appears when I check for them. Did something change? Tried to reinstall the client and there are no updates. They stopped working on the 8th and 11th of August.

Hello everyone

I have the same problem with ubuntu 8.04.1
I was running boinc with three Projects (setiathome, setiathome beta test, rosetta at home)
My computer doesn't seem to get new tasks since the 10th or 13th of August.

When I look on the stats for that host (hostid/Computer ID 4501844)
it is said, that there are 495 tasks outstanding for my Computer.

But I cannot see one single task here localy within Boinc Manager

Boinc manager displays just five old tasks, which are ready computed
since 10 or 15 days.

Any help fixing this would be fine.

Thanks Willem Bleymueller

Same symptoms here. I updated the linux kernel to the most recent release (2.6.24-19-server) and right afterward I started getting WU exiting at 100% with the following:

<core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process got signal 11
</message>
<stderr_txt>
setiathome_enhanced 6.03 Revision: 306 g++ (GCC) 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)

</stderr_txt>
]]>

All exited with the error 11 (0xB) code. The only error messages I'm getting from the client have to do with failed uploads (timeouts) and http errors. I've suspended SETI for the time being. Do I have to revert to the previous linux kernel?

Can you try the BOINC 6.x client?

Upgrading the client to 6.2.12 seems to have corrected the issue. This appears to be a development release though (in the Intrepid release), and I'm not confident folks that are running BOINC on production servers will be comfortable with that. The last stable release available for Ubuntu8.04 (Hardy) is 5.10.45, and that one still crashes WU with the above noted errors.

The new SETI application 6.03 did not work with old kernels. For a workaround have a look here : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=48957&nowrap=true#801239

I realise this reply is a little late but I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy without any problems on an old AMD Athlon system. I may help to know not everyone has the same issues. Sorry :(

But today for the first time ever I have a computation error on a Seti WU, but Rosetta, Einstein and LHC are still going fine.
