Hi there, I´m still got the problem, that I can´t start the "run_manager" after unpacking the downloaded file. Well, I´m using OpenSUSE 10.1 on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3200+ and try to use the file "boinc_6.2.14_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh". After unpacking I recieved the failure: india572:/var/BOINC # ./run_manager ./run_manager: line 1: /var/BOINC/boincmgr: cannot execute binary file ./run_manager: line 1: /var/BOINC/boincmgr: Success india572:/var/BOINC # The file "boincmgr" is an 64bit executable, which is shown there: india572:/var/BOINC # file boinc* boinc: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, stripped boinc_cmd: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, stripped boinccmd: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, stripped boincmgr: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, stripped boincmgr.16x16.png: PNG image data, 16 x 16, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced boincmgr.32x32.png: PNG image data, 32 x 32, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced boincmgr.48x48.png: PNG image data, 48 x 48, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced india572:/var/BOINC # does anyone have an idea? whats my failure? |

I see not real error on the outputs you have posted. Could you please try to redownload the BOINC client again. - I have the impression that it is eventualy a corrupted binary. What happens with the newer BOINC client 6.x ? |

well. I just downloaded the 6.2.15 for older linux (not for 64bit actually) and it works fine. But: where do I configure the client? I didn´t found any config-file. |

You need to start the boinc client by cd into the directory where the boinc client is installed. Now, start a new terminal and cd into the boinc directroy and start the BOINC manager with "./run_manager". You would get a dialog which asks you to attach to a project. Select the SETI project, in the next dialog select "existing account" and enter you username and password from the SETI account there. After this, the BOINC client would download the SETI application and some WUs and start crunching. There is a Linux install howto in the unoffical BOINC wiki which shows the install steps more detailed : http://www.boinc-wiki.info/Installing_the_BOINC_Client_Software_And_Participating_In_A_BOINC_Powered_Project |
