I ran a command in an attempt to update the BOINC client on my Ubuntu box, I found out later that this doesn't work to get version 6. This is what I get:

bones@bones-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install boinc-client boinc-manager

I suspect this is from the failed update on the JDK that ran earlier. I type in "no" and hit enter, which fixes it for a moment.... but if I run anther command it pops up the same thing. How do I fix this?

Until the package maintainers get the new version 6 of BOINC into the repositories, you are stuck with what you have. I don't use Ubuntu, so I don't know how long they usually take or if it's possibly in a development version of the distro.

This is why I prefer to install BOINC manually. It's not that hard, but it does take some basic CLI skills. There are guides out there with a few different ways to do it, and the good ones walk you through it.

Thanks, but I was referring how to cancel the failed JDK download. It keeps popping up the errors from it when ever I run a command.

Hi Mr. Majestic, why not UPGRADE your UBUNTU distro to the latest stable one.
F.i. 8.04.
I don't know whatversion/distro, you're using rightnow.
Also started with UBUNTU 7.10 and did an UPgrade inmediatly to 8.04.
Used the sudo command to install BOINC, you'll get 5.10.45, by default.
I'll look whatever java version I have installed and let you know.
Also a newbie, so don't know very much about this 'new' O.S..

At the time I wrote this I was using Ubuntu 8.0.4. What I was trying to do is update BOINC ;) I no longer use Ubuntu..... Mandriva is my favourite distro..... so this isn't a problem anymore.
