Hello everyone. I just wanted to say, I hope this is a step in the right direction to saving Arecibo.

On July 4th, I used the Seti@home save Arecibo template, to write my representatives in Washington. On July 26th, I received a letter from my representative in Congress, Zach Wamp, saying that he has added his name to the sponsorship of H.R. 3737, as of July 22, 2008. To my delight, I was also able to find a PDF file, of the Congressional record, showing his addition to sponsorship, on the GPO.GOV website. Also of note, Congressman Doggett added his sponsorship that day as well.

Whether or not it was actually my letter that prompted Rep. Wamp to sponsor the bill, I am kind of proud of the letter he sent me. What’s kind of cool, I think, is that it is dated the day after he added his name to the bills sponsorship.

I sure hope this wonderful scientific asset can be saved.
