Yes, it's correct. It's only a cosmetic issue, the 6.2.14 core client is putting some information in the init_data.xml file which the application doesn't expect or need. Including the deadline will make it possible for apps to modify their processing based on how soon the results are needed by the project, I don't expect that feature to be used here though.

Thank you for your response. It would be nice to see Seti use this code, may be this will happen one day. But it's not a biggie.
Cheers

This does not occur in Enhanced 6.02 which is Seti Beta (to be released soon). It does not say that it is turned on, only the messages are accoutned for. 6.02 was being developed to be compatible with the Soon to be released 6.2.xx series of the BOINC Core Client.

I do have to note that 6.2.14 will not be the final release to the general public. It is for testing purposes (BOINC) now. The approved BOINC Core release is 5.10.45
Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project.

Actually, the last I read, the plan is to go public with Boinc 6.2.14 sometime on Monday unless some major bug turns up.

I've been using BOINC 6.2.14 on 2 QUAD's, for 1 week now, except for the 'cosmetic' part, I think it works without error's.
But, it IS better/wise, to wait for the official release, though.
But, keep on crunching, ;^).

I just updated myself,....on both xp & VIsta (2 machines)

XP running fine expected.

Boinc 6.2.14 on Vista is running ok... but continues to be blocked and etc.;.. but runs fine when done manually.

It seemd just fine previously Vista wise...
Now however, after the install, It contributed to some lockups that forced be to cntrl-alt-del kill it... and remove it from startup.

Previously some thoughts were to run it as a service?

I wonder what the problems are now?

I assume I a missing something?

Except that was last Monday the 28th.
But it is now a recommended version, along with 5.10.45.

Which install option did you use? Did you allow it to migrate the data to a separate folder outside program files directory?

No, it has to migrate files from the prior location where you installed it to a newer hidden directory.

The official FAQ says that the system must be restarted:

Accounts
BOINC 6 will be able to run under your user name, but its installer will make new accounts specifically for BOINC when installed as a protected service: 'boinc_master', 'boinc_project', 'boinc_admins', 'boinc_users' and 'boinc_projects'.

Before BOINC can use these new accounts, the computer needs to be rebooted at the end of installing BOINC. Without it, BOINC won't work.
Make sure you closed/saved all other programs before clicking Finish on the installer as it will start the reboot process immediately!

It will only need this reboot when you come from BOINC 4.xx and 5.x.x or had a 6.1.x version installed (including 3rd party BOINC).

Tried it last night and was severely turned off when it asked to restart the box (plays hell with my uptime figures). Then, in big red letters in the Messages tab was something about it still being a beta version (2 strikes). Strike 3 was when it didn't want to play ball when I tried to copy the xml files across from the old client.

It was 2:30am, I was tired, cranky and in no mood to spend time mucking around to get it to do what I wanted it to do, so I deleted it and went back to 5.10.45 which I had up and running in 10 minutes including download time.

Think I'll wait till SP1 before I try it again. :-)

I did not have to restart my Mac since the files were already in a different location since I installed BOINC on the machine.

My experiences: when upgrading a WIN rig from client version 5 to client version 6 you always have to restart your pc. When upgrading an old 6 to a newer 6 there's no restart required (tested on Vista 64 Ultimate and XP Pro 64)...
