Hi All,
Just curious, but at one time we could see posts from Rom on almost a daily basis. Now I have not seen a word or reply since the last one 9 days ago about a code change. Did not know if he was on vacation, or just consumed with getting the project right.

Have A Great Day And A Better Tomorrow!!

Regards,

Rocky

Rom hasn't posted in 9 days (I have his profile bookmarked to make it easier to find anything he posts).

Maybe he got sick of crap that has been posted by some people on these boards.

Well he was checking in code on the 24th.... from the log:

------------------------------------------
Rom 24 Sept 2004
- NEWGUI: Hook up the rest of the html panes for the transfers, messages, work,
and resources tabs.
- Kick start the CPU scheduler on startup by setting must_reschedule_cpus to true,
in case the scheduler is stuck in a funky state.

client/
client_state.C
clientgui/

----------------------------------------

Now, how much work that is/leads to I cannot start to guess.
Just Possibly he has also decided to have a life for a bit.

Sorry folks, I've just been writing code for the last few weeks.

I was pretty much just stuck in the routine of getting up in the working and writing code, or designing features, sometimes eat something in between, or go over to friends houses to watch movies or play games.

Writing the new GUI has been my only focus for the last two weeks and more than likely the next two.

Here is what a screenshot of the new GUI looks like on Windows:

http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/boinc_alpha/download/newgui.PNG

The new UI should look the same on Solaris, Linux, and the Mac when completed.

Thx Basti

Rocky,

Link to the Logs: It's a dynamic link and may change - certainly you have to scroll-up for the latest data, but it is:

http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/boinc/checkin_notes?f=h#rev1.1342

Although somewhat cryptic, they give a much better feeling of the effort/activity behind the scenes than the "News" page does ;-)

Now, that's place where we should link all people asking if SETI staff is doing something else besides eating pizzas.

YES!
I've hinted at this site/link/whatever several times. It really does show that the BOINC and SETI projects and the dev team are moving forward.

Unfortunatly, whoever writes the 'News' often manages to leave a negative impression...

The check_in logs are at worst 'neutral', but more often a big forward step.

Congrats and thanks to the Dev team, David,Rom etc.

Rom,

It looks good, but may I make a small suggestion?

You have 'Update Project' stuck between 'Detach from Project' and 'Reset Project'. I think that placement might be too dangerous, it would be too easy to hit either reset or detach.

A lot of people manually update projects when results are ready to report. Would you consider moving 'Update Project' to the bottom of the list of tasks, with a blank line between it and 'Reset Project'? I feel it needs to be separated just so it is easier to see and select without hitting one of the other tasks.

Thanks,

Stephen

Both the Detach and Reset links require an additional confirmation dialog which should stop both accidental clicks, but non the less I've gone ahead and moved it to the bottom of the list, which also happens to contain the new Suspend and Resume project links.

The new GUI looks sweet. Kudos to Rom.

It would be nice to have an option to show the screensaver as the old 2D version.
