I recently swap HDDs from a "Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz" computer with a "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz". Just because, I didn't want to reinstall all the softwares and to copy all the data. Both the computers have run SETI/BOINC. After the swap, the computer with "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz" cannot be merged with the older results/host (while the other computer had no problem in merging the results from those ran before the swap). Is there any quick and easy way to merge the results from the same computer (with two different setup - mainly a new HDD)?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi CGLandlord

It looks as if the server sees your Core2Duo as a different computer even though it contains the same disk as your previous computer. This isn't surprising because apart from the disk it is in fact a different computer. Different computers can't be merged as far as I know, and they certainly can't if you haven't got the 'Merge computer' option at the bottom of the computers' web pages.

Unfortunately your computers are hidden so we can't check on what computers you have listed or how the SETI server describes them. It's usually a good idea for members with queries about their computers or tasks to unhide them before posting on the forum.

Thanks mo.v for the prompt reply.
Sorry that I hide my computers... nothing very particular but for some security reasons from my ISP. :)
I'm quite familiar with SETI and BOINC, however, I wondered if there is a trick to merge any two computers of my choice. I guess not...
Thanks again and wish you the best.

If they have the same name, you might be able to merge them.

Thanks for the tip, John McLeod VII.
I tried renaming before, but it didn't work at that time. :(
It refused to merge by saying "Host xxxxxx has overlapping lifetime", then. :)
Since it's been quite a while, I'll give it another try. :)
Wish you a wonderful weekend.
