I sent an email to the shelter linking them to this thread and got a response from them today....

"Hi,
Cute photos of all the cats! Very nice ones of the shelter as well.
Thank you so much for thinking of the cats here at the shelter. We all
appreciate your kindness."

So, they do know that we kitty people are trying to help out.....

I had a personal email off them yesterday thanking me for my donation which was nice :)

Oh, that's great Andy! I didn't know they would take the time to do that.

Last Saturday morning Suz and I volunteered for a group that catches feral cats and gets them spayed/neutered. She was part of the Catch Team and I was Transport Driver.

Problem is one sptayed out the air holes and got all over the back end of the van which instantly activated my allergies. I was fine up to that point.

The van is now being professionally cleaned :(

I commend you for your efforts Blurf....

TNR (trap, neuter, release) programs are a proactive way to reduce the number of feral cats in the wild. True feral cats cannot be helped by the shelters, because in most cases, unless they are very young kittens, the chances of them ever becoming an adoptable pet are very slim......
Capturing them, sterilizing them, and returning them to the only habitat they know is a humane way of helping control their populations.

There are a growing number of these programs here in Wisconsin, which has many large rural farming communities where these feral populations are common.

Sorry that your effort turned out a bit messy this time...please don't give up. You might consider covering the trap with an old blanket or towel during transport to cut down on the cleanup should it happen again......

Thumbs up to you and Suz.

Well, Ollie is finally starting to settle in. Zazo & Sonar appear fine with him, He's not phased by the house, and he had his first 'play' outside today.

Zazo & Sonar lurked out first. Ollie took a look around and explored a bit. I was with him all the time. He went back inside after about 5 minutes. Zazo & Sonar came back about 30 minutes later. It's a big property, so they like to hunt around a bit, but they always come back inside eventually. I only let them out once at 11:00 AM on every Saturday (only when it's sunny). And they come back inside in their own time (usually about 10 Minutes to 3 Hours). Otherwise the Kitty door is shut.

How's the Other Crunching-Kitties round here?

Luke.

A trio of tiger cubs had on their game faces yesterday while being held in a den away from public view at the San Diego Zoo. The females (from left) Jin, which translates to “spirit,” and Seri, which means “bright,” and the male (far right) Menderu, which means “roar,” are now 3 months old. Zoo officials hope to present the cubs to the public next week provided they are adaptable to their new surroundings.

Here's a great kitty pic from the BBC website today:

The fearless seagull that put its stomach ahead of its safety has been dubbed Steven Segal by Luis Elliott from Bexhill who took the photograph.
