So, should we try to Search for Extra-Terrestrial Artifacts at Earth? Maybe there are some artifacts/machines in the ocean trenches. Maybe Extra-terrestrial Bracewell probe is there waiting for us.

Just my own thoughts. What do you think?

Henri.

Prohibitively expensive, and SETA/SETV is probably not well-funded enough to do any significant searching.

Jill Tarter of the SETI Institute has mentioned the possibility of probes here orbiting Earth, at lagrange points for example, or somewhere in our solar system; The fact that no comprehensive effort has been undertaken to search the lagrange points and the fact that a probe could arguably be anywhere in our entire solar system and be virtually invisible to conventional telescopes if it were relatively small and did not give off much energy, means that the premise of Fermi's Paradox is false; we don't know if they're already here.

If there's a Bracewell probe in the neighborhood it'll be found when it wants to be found, and probably not before, since by definition it would have a high degree of autonomy. It could be waiting for us to pass a benchmark that's a long way off, like construction of a space elevator, interplanetary colonies, or the perfect country western song. Who knows?

I imagine it's possible that we might encounter alien trash or wreckage in the normal course of archeolgy or geologic exploration, or a ray gun in a coal seam, or some such. I've read SF stories about this, I think..?

Ok, Mr. Bracewell. If you are reading this, please, give us a sign of your existence. We already know you are there somewhere and we have had SETI@home 10 years by now. Isn't that a good sign of an advanced civilization you'd like to communicate with, Mr. Bracewell? :)

See you soon!

Henri. ;)
