Have BOINC set to run when my PC's are idle.(2PC'S)
Damn thing runs all the time.
Did everything uninstall,reinstall,detached.
Getting ready to go back to original,at least it worked when I wanted it to.Not when it wanted to.
Is there any thing else I can do?

Go to the web site and click on "your account". Click on the "general" link about mid-screen. Second line from the top reads "Do work while computer is in use:". Should be set to "no", if you don't want the client running at all time. In the client, click on the "Project" tab. Right click on "seti@home" and click the line that reads "update".

I have the same problem. I think Mike is trying to say that he is intelligent enough to have specified in his preferences not to do work while the computer is in use. The problem is that the software does not pick up on that even when manual update is performed by right-clicking on the project and clicking Update.

Same here. I have been trying to set one of my PC's to use "work" preferences.

I change it in the computers view, then update manually and all I get is the normal scheduler message, no change in prefs and the pc is still set as "home"

Bit annoying, as that PC i have to connect to the net manually, so I want it to store more work unit than my pc's that are always connected.

This is a known bug.

I've seen a couple of people who apparently know what they are talking about say that BOINC 4.11 or 4.12 is supposed to fix this. Both are currently on the Alpha page, but now that I (finally) have some settings that seem to work well on each of my range of machines, I thing I'll stay on 4.09

Well, I've just updated to 4.13 and BOINC still uses the "home" preferences.
