Message 768384 - Posted: 15 Jun 2008, 0:51:19 UTC - in response to Message 768202.

Of interest is a question I asked regarding the smallest nuclear weapon he had seen. He said "Larger than a breadbox, smaller than truck." I said, "Yeah, thanks a lot."

I can help a little. While there may be smaller ones, I was once shown one that would fit in a back pack. It was just over 30 pounds, or so I was told. I was not allowed to pick it up. It was at a public event for DOD contractors, so I don't think I am disclosing anything not publicly known.

The W54 is near the theoretical minimum size.

This artist's conception, from the Union of Concerned Scientists, illustrates the potential complexity
of any space based missile defense system in 1986. Future Star Wars systems could include thousands of
satellites in each of several layers, confronting weapons designers with unprecedented problems in the
areas of space transportation, computer software and survival against attack. (AP Photo)

Well. Back to the original query. Nez will soon be out of the #1 spot. Looking at 4-5 at this point. And probably gonna just keep dropping looking at the recent history. That's gotta hurt the project... Going from 1.4 Mil RAC to 145 Thou... And it doesn't look like the resources are getting shifted elsewhere. Just going away... :-(

Looks like my classmate will be in first pretty soon. He just started really cranking out the units a few months ago. He had a RAC of around 1500 for the longest time.

Hmm, let me do the math here. . .yikes, even at my ‘cheap’ BC rates it would be over 2 tho a month!

I notice his RAC is still dropping.

Hope he or she (or they, if ‘she or he’ is a corporation/government agency) is okay.

If he doesn’t come back, grrl is gonna have to buy some more computers. :)

Well Everyone.... It's official, NEZ is now second best in RAC to Octavian. The tyrannous reign of NEZ is starting to end....

Yes, but a different perspective shows that if NEZ did no more work, it would take Octavian over 5 years to catch up in total credit (with current RAC). There's a long way to go before NEZ is really off the throne!

Yeah, but why, I wonder.

His RAC drifting down is bad for the project as a whole (for obvious reasons)

And it drifting down does not bode well for the person/entity we call NEZ.

I still wonder why? :(

I really do not believe that one person could hold 1.5 Million RAC of rigs in his home.... Business PC's?

Luke.

EDIT: Good point stated by KenzieB, he could be a group of people. But then again... he did have a post once that said something along the lines of this: Someone posted a good conspiracy theory about me once...

Obviously that post got deleted with the siphoning a while back.

Too simple an explanation.

I sent him a PM. Yeah, I know, he never responds. Still, the myth is that he did respond to one PM from Misfit so. . . maybe Nez likes softly played guitar music, eh?

I am curious and, one way or another, I will find out. :)

Yup, I agree, Nez is a group (probably corporate, possibly government.) But somewhere there is a guy (or girl) with his (or her) finger on the button. . .(and to answer the occasional post.)

So somewhere, at the end of the chain, is a human being. . .

who is likely having a good laugh at all of us right about now

True. Shame is that all we know is that he/she/ET/Corp./Gov is from America.
1.5 Million RAC was his max output. Assuming he runs lots of average 8-core Macs @ 10,000 RAC, would mean he'd have to run 150 of them.... That's alot of PC's... er.... I mean Macs!

Could be that an xxx amount of rigs replaced & Nez no longer there to install Boinc?...Possible?

Of course, an elaborate practical joke. Extra Terrestrials using VM technology on their highly-advanced 4096-bit processors running at 3 yottahertz.

... and it probably ended when their Mom and their three Fathers realized that the family hypersystem was running slowly -- because the kids upgraded the VMs to Vista.
