I've only been running seti@home since the 19th of this month so this may be a redundant question. Looking at my results I see three tasks that have credit pending, one that was just completed today which is probably not an issue, the other two though I have questions about. One was completed on 23 May and the other on 28 May. I notice that when looking at work unit details for the oldest one I see two computers listed, one of course is mine, the other is someone else. I assume that each task is run in parallel using two computers? The outcome of my run on this task is directly below, the other persons is below that. So can I assume that I won't receive credit for this work unit until the other computer is finished with it?

If I may stick one more question in this thread, running Linux, the BOINC Manager pulls up Konqueror whenever I look at any of the web sites from the GUI, can that be changed to pull up FireFox?

Thanks for any information.

Each SETI@home workunit is initially issued twice.
Both workunits have to be returned and be in agreement before credit is granted.

If there is a difference in claimed credit between the two, it is always the lower value which is granted.

If the returned results do not agree, or one fails to be returned, the workunit will be issued once again until a quorum of two is formed.

Perhaps the BOINC FAQ Service can help :-)

I've placed the below in my /etc/profile:

BROWSER="/home/chris/firefox/firefox"
and added BROWSER to the below line
export HISTCONTROL HISTSIZE BROWSER

There is also another export line:
export PATH PS1 USER LOGNAME MAIL HOSTNAME INPUTRC NLSPATH

does it make a difference which export line BROWSER is on? It didn't make a difference though, Konqueror still came up instead of Firefox.

Doing some googling on the subject of profiles I found an old message from a few years back where someone just wrote a simple shell script with this in it:

#/bin/bash
cd /home/chris/BOINC
export BROWSER=/home/chris/firefox/firefox
./run_manager

made it executable, placed it on the desktop and all problems with using FireFox are solved. Don't know why your solution didn't work, I must have been doing something wrong. I wouldn't think I'd have had to reboot to get it to work.
