Hello I had to delete Boinc 4.09 as it went funny and I could not open it"socket error" so i deleted it and downloaded it again. It is asking for project url and my id.I have my id but do not know where to get the project url from.I looked through this site and cannot see it listed. Please can you tell me where to find the project url?Is the seti@home 2 sending out new wu's as yet either? Please help Thanks Rache. |

Thanks it worked.Yep I am now getting the usual message"no work available" and no response etc, lol. So I guess most people have ran out or are about to run out of work then.I am now running seti 1. |

At least the webpages are loading a tiny bit faster right now. |

There are other URLs that may work temporarily but may stop at any time. Using one of these other URLs is not adviseable. John Keck -- BOINCing since 2002/12/08 -- |

When BOINC connects to Berkeley, the message states that it is connecting to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ . Here's a thought.... Did the supposed URL change take place when they came out with v4.09? I'm still running v4.05, by choice. And, one other thing.... No offense intended, but if you're going to quote my words then quote them as I have typed them. Don't change my words or any part thereof. Thanks.... L8R.... --- EDIT: I joined in mid July and upgrade from v3.2 to v4.05 when the need arose. Another thought.... If the message in BOINC states the URL as http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ and the URL has indeed changed, then they neglected to change the text string in BOINC code. The change to using the "classic" web-page as master URL happened a couple of hours after this project going "officially active". The scheduling-server on the other hand can change, and did some time ago, and even the seti-BOINC-web-page has changed address. BTW, there's no problem to use or don't use the .ssl-part, since it's just 2 names for the same machines. ;) > > And, one other thing.... Well, I didn't change any of your words, and it should also be clear that part is quoted and that is new input... :) |

Using v4.09 currently and the sched_request.xml shows the following url's for master url, scheduler url and upload url: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/file_upload_handler Of course, it is the master url plus the account ID that should be typed when Boinc is first installed and attached to the Seti Project. ---------- Join the Overclockers.com SETI Team! |

The scheduler URL is actually embedded into the index web page of the project. The BOINC Work Manager uses the supplied URL to find the Index page, then parses the index page for the current URL for the scheduler. This scheme allows for the movement of the scheduler with no impact on the participants. If you want to see it, use "show source" when you have loaded the index page for the project ... It is an XML type tag in a comment so that it is not parsed and displayed ... For SETI@ Home the current version looks like: <!-- <scheduler>http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi</scheduler> --> <p> For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! |
