One indoor princess - White Cat, who was a stray we adopted several years ago...

Two ferals who regularly dine in our back yard - Jordan White-Paws and Pansy. Not sure if they count in the roll call???

We were working with Fix Our Ferals a couple of years ago to humanely trap cats in our back yard and have them spayed/neutered. Our first catch went perfectly - boy kitty, nasty and wild, easily trapped, fixed and released. Our second catch was a skunk who was NOT supposed to be out running around in our backyard on a Sunday at 2pm, but who apparently had NOT read the Skunk Handbook.

Eric very cleverly managaged to release "Stinky" from the trap without getting sprayed. The process involved an old blanket, a fishing pole, barbecue tongs and a tree stake. How Eric did this defies written description and is best acted out. If any kitty people have plans to pass through Berkeley, come see us and I will give you a private performance of the award winning drama "Skunk-beth" (Out, damn'd skunk! out, I say!)

Anyway, after the Close-Encounter-Of-A-Skunk-Kind, we returned the trap to Fix Our Ferals, gave up on the notion of kitty population control and just started feeding on demand any and all sentient creatures who landed in our back yard.

Well, I've (we've) got three.

Curie, Gamer and Brucelee. Curie's a moody daddy's girl, Gamer's a head-butting runt, and Brucelee is....well....he's the stoner of the group. Always laid back, friendly and occasionally, in the presence of red laser pointers, paranoid.

I have two.

Olive who is an old lady now. She was found under a bush in Brockwell park when she was a kitten. She is often called Oddor because my son couldn't say Olive when he was little..and Oddor suits her better.

Nora who we got from a friend as kitten (he chose us as he was the only kitten to run towards my son when we went to chose our new pet to replace Olive's daughter Flora, who had died suddenly one day). Oh yes..he was given to us as she..but when we took him to the vet we discovered she was he, but by then it was too late to change his name.

It's not like cats answer to their names anyway.

Actually Nora does but never mind.
