Not really Richard, it will be on mortgage like all his other properties, on the basis of his future earnings as an ex PM on the talk circuit. Money he is going to make on the backs of us, the poor British people, whom he sold down the river for the last 10 years. Shouldn't you be thrilled? I mean, they all do it to you. They have been for far longer than 10 years. And yet you always run to the gov't to solve your problems. That's inconsistent. They get theirs, they get it right from your hide, and you beg them for more. How can you crab now when you ask/beg them to do it?? This one is classic: Blair nets £100k for a 90min talk. Oooooohhh! Pfffft. I'm paying DEARLY for this education. I would pay for it at this school no matter what they charged. The fact that your swell gov't feels that it is a smart idea to subsidize a LARGE numbers of non-English students is not my fault. I would vote for a Military coup in this country if it was possible. Each of the retiring Chiefs of Staff, and other senior Army, Navy, and Airforce figures, have talked a lot more sense in the last 5 years than any tuppeny 'happeny politician I've ever heard. Don't tell Es. She loves plenty of those pinkos. 8^] Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

And yet you always run to the gov't to solve your problems. While I'm not very fond of corporate america either, my government in its current form can STICK IT! They BOTH blew sunshine up my butt, worked me like a dog, stole my ideas, and sent me out to pasture... ;) (Don't laugh, they can just as easily do it to you too.) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

And yet you always run to the gov't to solve your problems. Blair was the finest right wing Prime Minister of all time. Anyone who thinks he was even faintly pink needs new glasses. He was just marginally less detestable than Mussolini and anyone else Rush loves. Blair demonstrates all the glowing credentials that capitalism has to offer. Watch out when Rush becomes President of somewhere. Bush and the Burmese generals will have nothing on him. |

Your assertion has some support in the phrase that "Blair was the best Conservative Prime Minister we never had". Unfortunately, he, together with Gordon Brown the then Chancellor, did much to wreck a progressive and competitive economy bequeathed to them by The Conservative Chancellor. The results can be seen in Gordon (Who) having to deal with the present multiple myriad problems. Indeed, over the last 11 years the current Labour Government has managed to ruin (from the position they inherited) everything they have touched - 1. Private salary based pensions 2. The capability and capacity of all 3 armed services 3. The Police Force by politicising it, making them very PC and working to unreal targets 4. The NHS - poured money in to it with little planning, foresight, vision or return on the increase 5. Local Government by placing responsibilities on them without giving them the money or authority. No wonder thy see parking, speeding (need some curbs), bin collection charges, etc, as income to replace the Government squeeze 6. The economy - ran it properly in their first term, but imposed numerous sly taxes. The second term was a rip off against the Tax Payer, and the chickens are coming home to roost. I think, in Tax terms, Labour is demonstrating that there is an absolute maximum the working person and business is prepared to tolerate. 7. Education - by imposing targets for Teachers and Pupils to achieve, despite individuality. A very controlling and prescriptive Government, none of who has run a business, school, local authority or other organisation requiring income. I could go on, but I can let others comment It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Your assertion has some support in the phrase that "Blair was the best Conservative Prime Minister we never had". Precisely. By continuing the policies of the disastrous Thatcher/Major years the country has been brought to ruin. Not helped by the Americans and their passion for free markets in everything, including dishonesty and lack of common sense in banking. Today's politicians all see something and want to fix it for the sake of it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is the best political slogan of all time. Incidentally, I don';t think Blair was particularly dishonest per se, just a dupe of Bush who failed to invest adequately in Europe. |

Incidentally, I don';t think Blair was particularly dishonest per se, just a dupe of Bush who failed to invest adequately in Europe. You must not be from the UK! Dear Cherie (nee Booth) is Tony Blair's wife. She has the misfortune of coming from Liverpool, whose citizens regard themselves as a race apart (and so does the rest of the country). Her father, another Tony, was an actor on TV and in a variety of very dubious B movies. He is a long term Labour Party member with a history of opening his mouth and being honest, much to his son-in-law's disadvantage. Cherie inherited the mouth in that it is far too large for her face, is full of teech and she is totally unable to smile without looking like the mad scouser she is. She has another history of subscribing to loony tune crystal touchers, clairvoyants, life-style advisers and assorted gold-diggers. The fact that she is a remarkably successful barrister just adds to her extraordinary CV. Blair's own reputation was not exactly helped by any of this because he seems to have been duped by some of the hangers-on as well. Google images of Cherie Blair and you'll see what I mean. |

Incidentally, I don';t think Blair was particularly dishonest per se, just a dupe of Bush who failed to invest adequately in Europe. I know what she looks like and that her father was the former President of Equity despite all the "Confessions of .." movies. It was the "Blair not particularly dishonest" ... "wife like Cherie" implication that I was interested in. That she might not have the most attractive set of molars is an accident of genetics and not really a criticism of her personality, the quacks and kooks she surrounds herself with certainly is (though if we're honest, her sister should be considered one of these, Lyndsey has been the Ethics and Welfare Officer of the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths). If there is any substance to an insinuation of dishonesty I'm sure the Bar would be interested... I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Bobby, you can stop digging, there was no allusion to dishonesty meant. I was referring to the many times that she simply publicly embarassed him by just being her. Ahh, cool. I hadn't heard anything along those lines (dishoesty) before and wondered if I'd missed something in the 8 years since I last lived in the UK. From what I remember she's been the cause for some embarrassment on a professional level, taking cases that have challenged gov't practices, which I'd say is to her credit. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Oooooohhh! I guess you contribute to the British economy through your tuition in a larger scale than many of the British tax-payers... "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Oooooohhh! Sure. I was just noting that given your statement about "an education subsidized," I would have paid the full cost. It didn't bear a discussion of the validity/amount of the subsidy. The other comments weren't mine, obviously. Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |
