Hello folks
I have just reinstalled fedora core 4 and then updated all the packages. I have client 5.8.16 and did the sh boinc_5... etc
Folder BOINC created as expected. gui runs and also plain cmd line client runs ...but the install does not seem to get the rest of the files.. there is nothing in the projects folder. and the error message as below "Message from server: Incomplete request received." keeps on happening as long as the client runs, so seti wont download anything else, eg the app or workunits..
any ideas anyone..?
i have reinstalled about 6 times and re-downloaded the 5.8 app just to be sure... still no go...
I have tried the 5.10 app but it wont install as it needs different lib files

I vaguely remember having issues with the Fedora 4 firewall and BOINC. Please try turning off the firewall and see if it works then.
/sbin/service iptables stop

Thanks

I have already tried that one, turned it off and did a fresh install, but still no go. There is a message I see that says, Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found. Then later on the error Message from server: Incomplete request received.

I have just done another fresh download and reinstal and it just dont wanna go...dammmm. Am now wondering if there is some file this version is expecting to find at the other (berkeley) end and it cant see/get/access it, and so stops and therefore wont finish the download of the rest of the app and client??? and then the workloads

I have a cluster of these waiting.
