Here in New Zealand you have to pay for your internet service based on how much data you use, so I'm wondering how much data seti sends in MB or KB or whatever. Or, to ask another way, how does it compare to streaming audio or video? Cheers. |

Unfortunately it's not that simple. There are many variables that depend on how much work you download, which is in turn dependant on how fast your machine is able to "crunch" the workunits, which is also dependant on what type of workunit you get (some are long, some are short, some have "noise" and abort quickly). |

I'm wondering how much data seti sends in MB or KB or whatever. Most of my seti crunching was done using a dial-up connection and I can tell you for a fact that it's very lightweight on everything but the cpu... Now Rosetta, that's another story... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |
