The slowest PC I have is turned off and disconnected, Besides It doesn't really qualify as It's powered by an Opteron 165 cpu(1.8GHz @ 2.6GHz). | |

My Dual PII 400MHz has been crunching 24/7 since I started Seti in the classic days. It's currently crunching for Prime Grid and does an occasional WU for Seti or other projects. | |

An old laptop, Compact/Tosiba, 1995, 133Mzh processor that I intend to get back up and running again 24/7 if possible. Not sure if will use it for SETI or Einstein. Also, an iBook, (2003) will be used and will ask my better 7/8s if I can use her eMachine (2002)-1.8 Mzh processor, also. Split up SETI/Einstein among the four. The sloth machines may do more than I expect if they run 24/7...maybe? | |

SETI@home classic workunits 1,046 SETI@home classic CPU time 42,917 hours Under BOINC: Total Credit 8,882 for S@H and 5,186 for SETI Beta Recent average credit 14.46 Measured floating point speed 165.34 million ops/sec Measured integer speed 240 million ops/sec % of time BOINC client is running 99.8321 % It's a Pentium MMX 200 MHz Overdrive CPU. Had a 80486DX66, with a VESA Local BUS system, a (VESA) SCSI-card, half the size off the MoBo, with 8MByte RAM!. Unfortenatly the SCSI-card is broken. These 486 didn't even have cooling problems ;) Worked with EXpanded or EXtended memory and the Disk Operating System 4.01 (D.O.S.). ____________ Knight Who Says Ni N!, OUT numbered................. | |

I could do one and only one better, 1.79MHz and that was an Atari 1200XL computer which I have now, But It's awaiting a new motherboard and psu brick which should cost Me w/shipping $60.68 total, Would It run Seti? Not likely at this stage as I'd need a C compiler and I'd have to configure Seti to do what Seti Classic did and yet support Boinc and in a limited memory envelope of 64K to 512K or even as much as 1024K, As hdd capacity or access to a hdd isn't a problem, Internet would have to be via dialup as the 1200XL has no ethernet capability. This machine runs 24/7. It's a VIA C3 at 800 MHz. The Via C3 and C7 are very interesting processors. The integer speed is almost triple, which I'd expect, and the floating point performance is about the same even though the C3 is running at a 4 times higher clock. The nice thing about the C3 is that they're very low power. I haven't got a C3 based machine over 35 watts total, and I have one under 20 watts. For most of my other machines, the CPU draws more than that alone. Fortunately, my primary applications are all integer math. ____________ | |

I have a few "slow but steady" crunchers in my midst. Hey, they were just sitting there doing nothing anyways. Yeah, they are slow and are not as "efficient" as my newer rigs, but what the heck, now they are "doing" something whilst sitting, and also......I don't pay the electric bill! | |
