Die My Bride by the Murderdolls would be a good one....lol

* Ultimately, if I find a woman to marry, she'll be the type who can have that song played at our wedding reception by HER request.....* lol

Congratulations, littlegreenmanfrom....
here´s my vote which I think fits in almost every case involving couples:
John Denver and Plácido Domingo
Two great artists singing together, two worlds meeting and enjoying.

I couldn'rt resist joining in this one - Congratulations and may you be together as long & be as happy as we have been these 30+ years.

Music - If you want to make an entrance how about the opening music to 2001 played on a church organ, with the base turned up and the Vox Dei board linked in! Start low in pitch & volume, and build as far as you think people will stand. I heard it done once in a cathedral (not our wedding actually) - it's UNBELIEVABLE!

My partner and I are due to tie the knot on 17th of May, and we are racking our brains to find a tune we like for her procession.
"Here Comes The Bride" is NOT an option!!!
We both have a love for music, but neither of us can come up with a suitable tune for this most important part of the ceremony.
Can anybody please make a suitable recommendation?
I shall post the winner here.

Nice! the 17th of May is also the Norwegian national day! fun! Congratulations on the union!
that would have worked if you hadn't stopped me

What a coincidence... my first name is Scandanavian, even though I was born in the UK.
I wonder if there's anything in that?

Ah well...
Time to announce the tune...

My Bride shall walk down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon in D.

No-one suggested this, so there is no winner.

HOWEVER!

Several of the suggestions will be played during the signing of the register and the canapes and wine session afterwards.

I'm trying to find a copy of Arizona Moon's suggestion to work into the program. We are both very much taken by it.

Fuzzy's Roberta Flack number has to be considered compulsory, despite it's connection with my Mum's funeral.

Monday: I'm trying to sneak in "She's Got Legs" by ZZ Top, too!! (hehe!)

Many thanks to all who contributed. There were a fair number from long-term happily-married crunchers, too. I hope this thread brought back some happy memories for you all.

Again, many heartfelt thanks for your ideas and well wishes. It's a pleasure sharing cyberspace with you all :)

Congrats again, LGM. I had hoped you would appreciate my humor in suggesting those songs ( as twisted as my humor is at times....lol )

...Pachelbel's Canon is one classic tune under consideration, but I feel it's a little "Military Slow March"...

So it's slow. It's your day (and hers) and it'll be over in a flash. One minute you're nervously fiddling with your buttonhole, and the next, people start saying "Thanks for inviting us, it's been lovely, good night..."

Take time out. Pause and enjoy it as much as you can. It it takes a while for the bride (or you both) to walk down the aisle, so what? People won't mind. Watch your step.

And drink plenty of water, go easy on the booze, and whenever something awkward crops up, yell for an usher. It's what they're are there for.

Oh, and I don't believe anybody's mentioned 'The Entry of the Queen of Sheba' yet. Could be just what you're looking for.

Best wishes,

Richard

Some gems of advice there, Richard, and thank you for reminding me :)

I've never heard of that tune, so I will be checking it out.

Thanks Bob.

And congratulations to you on 18 years. In this day and age, it's a feat in itself.

My parents were approaching 45 years married when Mum passed, so I suppose I have an example to follow.

Mind you, that would make me 95, were I to remain alive that long! ;)

I found it "THE SONG" for your big entrance.

I don't know how old you are so you might not have heard it before.

"songbird" by Fleetwood Mac or more specifically... Christine McVee.

It's slow, so she can take her time coming down the isle and the words say it all. The reason why both of you are there in the same room.

Try it out, see if you like it.

just my opinion.

What ever you do, don't choose Eddie Rabbits' "I don't know where to start"

But Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gayle did the infamous You and I, my wife and I used that at our reception for our first dance.

LGMFM,

Congratulations and many happy years to you and your bride!

A couple of songs that might be good for your reception, etc.:

500 Miles (I'm Gonna Be) - The Proclaimers/Steven Curtis Chapman
I Will Be Here - Steven Curtis Chapman
God Bless the Broken Road - Geoff Moore/Rascal Flatts/and others...

Have a great day and a long and happy marriage!
