My partner and I are due to tie the knot on 17th of May, and we are racking our brains to find a tune we like for her procession.
"Here Comes The Bride" is NOT an option!!!
We both have a love for music, but neither of us can come up with a suitable tune for this most important part of the ceremony.
Can anybody please make a suitable recommendation?
I shall post the winner here.

I like what we did for music when I got hitched 25 years ago. I assume that you will have a church setting. We had an organist and a male soloist.

For the entrance of the Bridal Procession--"Trumpet Voluntaire"
For the recessional--"Ode to Joy"

During the ceremony we had "Ave Maria" sung in Latin, the "Wedding Song---there is love" and also the Hawaiian Wedding Song..

The Hawaiian wedding song was an Andy Williams hit -if you have trouble finding the music get one of his old albums.

This ensemble will make for a moving and memorable punctuation to your big day.

Regards,

Bill

I'm not sure if you don't like that melody or it's cliche or whether you don't like classical music at all. {hint: you should let us know that)

Assuming you like classical music, how about Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty Waltz"? It has a lot of grace in it: she might like that. :]]

Right you are, Beets. Classic is definitely worth looking at. Pachelbel's Canon is one classic tune under consideration, but I feel it's a little "Military Slow March". I shall look up the Sleeping Beauty Waltz.

The Wedding March, we find it cliche, as you guessed.

Daddio: Ode To Joy is one of my favourites. It may be played at the after-ceremony. Maybe the signing.

Monday: We have seriously discussed that particular tune. We are both prone to break conventions. :)

KM: good to hear from you, old friend. Somehow, I couldn't imagine you making a different suggestion. *chuckle* There was a time I would have done the same!

And thanks for the wishes.

Glad you like my first choice Guy.

If you want people to know something big is about to happen have a look at

"Ride of the Valkyries" by Wagner.

Not as good as legs, but way up there. And its Classical. :)

I knew this was gonna be fun when I started it! ;)

We've been sifting through Bette Midler, Billie Holliday, Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy, Loreena McKennitt, Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, Pachelbel's Canon and many others. (Yes, even ZZ Top came up!)

All we can think of is:
Upbeat, happy and something that will be appreciated by the mix of people that will be attending. (Paupers, Millionaires, Management types and Working Class types)

We are trying to strike a balance, of course, as we want to maintain dignity whilst keeping it informal. The wedding is in a mock-mediaeval chapel. It seats around 50-60 people. Drinks and canapes will be served after, so music for about two hours will be needed. We reckon we can well exceed that, but I am close to desperate to find something my Beth will feel comfortable with as she has all eyes on her.

Please keep the ideas coming, no matter how silly you may feel they are. Even if I don't choose one that is suggested, someone's idea may trigger a memory and lead me to the right tune!

Many thanks to all :)

"Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini", Rachmaninoff - use the bit off of "Somewhere in Time" - Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour, soundtrack available.

Congrats, Littlegreenmanfrommars.
