Please excuse me...

I cleaned out the accumulated dust from my computer, turned it on, restarted BOINC and found all my my work units had gone to Client Error. Abandoned them (sorry wingmen), downloaded more, got the same result, abandoned them (sorry again), uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC and now the project informs me I have exceeded the 26 work units allowed per day (that seems unusual in itself since I've had more than 100 in the cache) and no more would be downloaded. In all other ways the computer is operating normally. Do I just wait for a day to pass and resume tomorrow or is there some other thing I can do to get back up and crunching? Thanks.

I think you will just have to wait it out......
When you return WUs with a client error, the servers start to reduce your quota....it serves as a throttle when a computer has gone away and is producing garbage instead of valid work.....
Your quota will quickly go back up as soon as you return some valid results again.....hope you have found the cause of the errors....

You could do something radical like, i don't know, attach to another project? :)

Just a thought ...

Hmmm...

I was looking through the Task summary list and saw that some had been dumped on a Client Detached.

That along with your saying that you did an uninstall/reinstall cycle for BOINC might make it worth while to double check that your optimized app is still installed properly.

Also, you might want to consider moving the host over to a different venue and very small work cache settings as well as limit the CPU's used to 1 until you figure out what is going on. With your current quota of 13 per day due to all the aborts you suffered, it doesn't take a Q-ball long to burn through that if it isn't running right! ;-)

Paul...Brilliant, simply brilliant!...and that's exactly what I did; attached to another projet. Gee, I never wudda thoughta that! Thanks.

To follow up on yesterdays hiccup, all seems to be working well again. When I get done with the current batch of Rosetta@Home, it'll be full speed (such as it is) on SETI.

In that SaH has had a long history of issues ... I could never see the 99/1% doctrine even for those fanatical about SaH ...

Who knows, join another project and look around there and it might be fun ... :)

In the beginning all we had were the three ... then for about a year there were, what, 5?

You can just about look at my account and see my sign up dates for the early days and see what we had available, well, except the one ...
