Strong pulse - also a decent gaussian. Was something there?

WU 23no06af.8609.22567.8.7.251_1_0 returned a pulse with a score of 83168.112818. Three pulses in all - the other two (coming first) had scores of 1.1047556 and 1.070199, respectively. Also there was a gaussian in that WU with a score of 3.452742. No can know until it gets compared with other WUs. Don't forget that there's a lot of terrestrial (non-ET!) signals flying around that must be eliminated. Also, the gaussian score is good if it is a low value. So... It might be something, or likely it isn't, but whatever... You got to see something! My "best" Gaussian: Gaussian Score: 0.742760 ...in the general direction of Pollux near Gemini. Probably not ET, but looks like there might be something interesting there anyway. |

I think I do have the Gaussian scores right since I also have Seti@home-MapView v6.54 . There the best "scores" get an double square rather than a square dot in either yellow or poor green. They sometimes come up in I would very much like to know if anyone else here is recieving data from the boo star system? I have multiple dots and a massive red dot with a square around it and the scores for gaussion and what not seem pretty good... the signal in particular has been from roughly the end of march 2008 i think im new to deciphering the information... However judging from the map viewer and the visualisation when i am recieving this is crazy.... Rollercoasters....and every now and then i would get 3 spikes and the boinic marked them (highlighted them) with green lines... if i'm not mistaken i think i have more of the same coming through as i type... anyone able to help? |

That's normal. The three spikes with green lines are strong triplets. |

If you look at the "Credit" line in your (or other's) posting(s), this number tells something about how many WU's that user making any comments have processed. ... Indeed. There are lots more to find. The really interesting part is finding out exactly what has been found. Roll on the NITPICKER development so that we can follow what everyone has found and compare for anything consistent. :-) Brief hint... The s@h client is so 'sensitive' that to maximise finding any signal whatsoever, you can expect to find a few false positives just by the sheer weight of random chance with radio and electronic (thermal) noise. The real interest comes if two people or more discover the same signal. Hope that helps a little. Try the Boinc wiki help link in my sig for more info. I have just finished a peice and urmmmm Signal (spikes etc) count of 30 is max allowed, if there are more than 30 signals it usually means the unit contains interference, caused by man. This is indicated by -9 overflow error msg. They frequently but not always reach 30 signals within a few seconds of the start, and the credits therefore will be 0.xx or lower. |
