I just thought it would be a fun way to raise some donations for the Seti cause.

I can't even afford what I have already offered. Am I the sole Knight prepared to have a go? Are the rest just tending the shrubbery and saying "Ni!"?

Anybody able to add to or top Seti USA's fine bid?

I will top up whatever the winning bid is by $50 which will be an addition to my usual monthy donation.

Are you sure you want to do that??? That sir, is a scary offer...

If your offer is to top the winning bid by $50.00 what would stop me from just bidding $50,000 ??? It would be a good bid for me because you would top me by $50.00 and be obligated to pay.

Hmmmmm - interesting bid you got there sir. You better think about it.

I think you misunderstood. If I had that sort of money I'd have given it to the guys at SETI a long time ago. I am merely offering to put $50 on top of whatever money the final bid collects. I believe someone somewhere in the depths of the thread has also offered to do the same, so the winning bid would be increased by $100 between the 2 of us.

I make regular donations to SETI anyway, but this is a way of giving a little more and supporting Mark in doing so.

Another question, does it matter which team wins. I said I would add $100 to Seti.USA's bid. You said you would add $50 but no codition as to which team wins. Does it matter to you?

Well......
I would be surprised by anybody offering a higher bid than zeitgeistmovie.co has made on behalf of Seti USA.......
It was a very generous offer......
But I do also thank those who are offering to add to his bid......
I will go through the posts on Sunday morning and declare a winner, and post the amounts that were bid.

I thank all who are getting involved in this auction to raise funds for the Seti project.

Best regards to you all, and good bidding......
Mark.

So far I counted 76 messages to this post. Also noticed that there were 2215 viewers of these posts. Don't know how to actually count the members who view them but lets say at least 1000. If the 1000 members who viewed these posts send in just $10.00 each to SETI to support this farm action by 'msattler' it would greatly aid the SETI project.

Instead of an auction, maybe it should have been done as a drawing.

$10.00 ticket (ticket number is your post number) - put in a hat/box the post number and the one selected wins.

Maybe next time.

If you put in $50, you should get 5 tickets...

I wonder if we could get Nez to put up his machines for a week to the team specified by the owner of the lucky number. Even at a week, it would be worth it.

Hmm. Maybe get Nez to put up his machines for a monthly drawing...

Well. it was just something I came up with late at night, whilst I was wondering who I would change teams to......
Sitting there ready to jump, 'cuz I have given what I promised to the fine folks at SetiDeutschland, and wondering what team I might join .......

So I thought, why not put it up to the highest bidder, with Seti being the ultimate winner.......

You are all so worthy......but I thought that my crunching might actually be worth the contributions......

On my part, the RAC and credits, and on Seti's part, both an additional monitary contibutions (which they sorely need) and just to bring the whole plight of Seti to light........

My game, my offer.......to the betterment of Seti......

And whilst waiting for new bids......
I am upping the ante......or at least trying.......
In the midst of trying to upgrade one of my dual cores to another quad.......

May the Gods of fast computing be with me......
I already have found that the Gods of Windoze are not.......
