I joined a team, promptly doubled the teams total credits and RAC and became the main contributer to the team. I waited a for a welcome message from the founder and after a week I had heard nothing. I have sent four messages to the Founder and received one short reply. Not only has he stopped communicating with members, he has also stopped contributing to SETI and his teams output! A week ago I submited a Foundership name change to which the founder has not yet responded. What can I do now? I want to do some recruiting and set up a team chat-board but I need foundership rights in order to do those things. Cheers. Whiskey Join the #1 UAE Team. |

There isn't anything you can do if he doesn't accept the founder change, except start a new team. On another note about the founder of Absentee. I personally think it is a waste of time to start a team and then stop communicating with the members. I try to greet everyone who joins my team. I will admit that it can be easy to lose track of new members when you have a BOINC-wide team, but to not respond to any members at all is not at all how a founder should treat their members. |

That would be sad because Team UAE Residents is #1 in country and needs some input from an enthusiastic leader to make it bigger and better. I could start recruiting for the team and hope that the founder gets interested but that could prove to be a forlorn hope and a waste of effort on my part. Is there nothing that Boinc-Seti@home can do to force a foundership change rather than let a team die from neglect. Could Seti, for instance, give the Founder 7 days to respond to the foundership change after which time, failure to respond would result in him being made redundant and he could then be replaced? Whiskey, This is how it works. You should read this message carefully; "Team Founder Transfer" Explained. How it works! Everything you need to know is explained in that message! There is no quick way to do it. If you have the interest in your team, you will be willing to wait the 2 months it takes for the transfier process to take place. There is no requirement to contact the project admin at this stage. It sounds like your team founder is simply absent. More team help and advice is avalable at www.boincteams.com. Just bit your time, thats what i suggest! John. |

Whiskey, Thanks John, I read through all that before I applied for a Foundership change, I was hoping that there was some way to shorten the waiting time. The founder is still contactable even though he has stopped crunching for SETI. I s'pose I'll just have to wait out the two months and see if he responds positively or quits. Cheers, Johnnie Walker. PS. I like your Avatar. Here in Dubai there is a very unique and special place called the Irish Village which is one of my favourite watering holes. It is a village square complete with duck pond, ducks and Geese, surrounded by an Irish pub, Post Office, Clothes Shop and Souvenire Shop. There is an Irish telephone box outside the Post Office and a horse drawn cart loaded with barrels in the square but all the shops are false fronts! Behind the facade is just one huge pub! They do the best pub-grub in Dubai and the Guiness isn't half bad either. It's nice sit to out and to eat and drink in the square on rustic wooden benches during the winter! The summer is too hot! Cheers again. Join the #1 UAE Team. |

Whiskey, There is no way to speed up the process, like i say, if your have the interest, you will be willing to wait. But a word of warning, your team founder has been active lately, he crunched some work a little over a month ago. So tread cautiously as I'm sure he is most likely still using that email address and he will have received the email informing him about the request. On a lighter note, yes, the UAE is indeed a very wealthy country. I watch stuff on the TV and i see that Dubai, one of the hottest countries in the world, now has ski slopes in the local shopping mall.. So it does not surprise me that they have created a small piece of Ireland in the center of Dubai. Its probably more Irish there than it is here in the country of Ireland. Lots of Irish are now buying property in Dubai. Hope that transfer goes OK, John. |

I went through this with Team Canada and can confirm that it is a long process but keep at it and if you have "woken" the original founder, try to work with them to get your team established. Good Luck! |

Thanks Pawly, I'm sending him a message every day in the hope that he gets pissed orf with being bugged by me and decides to either get involved or quit. Cheers, Whiskey. Join the #1 UAE Team. |

Carefull!!!. He could just kick you off the team! Best things in life comes to those who wait! In the mean time, you could develop a plan for promoting and recruiting new people for your team. You don't need to be the team founder to start encouraging people in the UAE to get involved. How about putting up a small poster on the notice board in that Irish pub!. Might be a start. The team also has no team website. You could get cracking and do a team website and when you finally get in as founder, you can add the address to the team details. Have a read of this if your not good at building websites; How to build a free team website for your team |

Yes. I've been through all that material which is why I'm keen to get cracking. The team and the country should be much higher up the stats. UAE, the country that boasts Dubai as it's second city, the Burj Al-Arab, the tallest building in the world, The Burj Dubai, the most exclusive hotel in the world, is about to be overtaken by The Congo! I'm not making a move at the moment towards creating a web site or a chat board in case I get kicked off the team and have to start a new Team. Watch this space...There may be a TEAM UAE posted shortly! Cheers, Johnnie Walker. Did you see that SETI@HOME, BOINC and distributed computing were one of the topics on BBC "CLICK" this week?
