SETI@home - 2004-09-22 01:54:10 - Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults

I have the last version of Boinc client (4.09) and Xp. Please help me! When i click on Update the client says me always this message:

The client work or not? Because after 3 or 4 WU, i have at the moment 0 credit!

It is supposed to be possible (they weren't working, I don't know if they still aren't) to create a separate set of preferences for each of the venues as well as the default set (that takes over if one of the computers is set for a venue that does not have a separate preference set). The message means that you do not have a set of preferences set for "Home".

Credit is not granted immediately. You have to wait for 2 others to return and report results that are similar enough for the verifier to call them the same. The verifier is a process that runs on one of the S@H servers. If the verifier is down or backlogged, credit can take longer to be granted. If everything is running smoothly, and the other two return the results within the 2 week deadline, credit will be granted within 2 weeks of the last of the 3 copies of the WU being sent out. However, if one of the results errors out, or is not returned by the deadline, another copy will be sent out with its own 2 week deadline.

Message 28996 - Posted: 22 Sep 2004, 14:21:39 UTC - in response to Message 28850.

This option doesn't seem to take effect tho. I have 3 pc's working with boinc, 1 at home and 2 in work. At first i only had the general prefs but due to the fact that my work pc's have a lan connection to the web which is always active i tried to set it so that they would connect as soon as a wu is complete while my home one will connect every 5 days or so. This doesn't seem to happen as even though i've set the 2 work pc's for the work location they just use the general pref's and i still the "no separate prefs for home" message. And when i check the setting of location all 3 are set for home!!

Anyone gotten this to work?

Like I said, they were not working. Based on your report, they still are not working.

I looked in the global_prefs.xml file and found both venues defined.
(in the BOINC dir: '' for %i in (*.xml) do find /i "venue" %i '')

So I manually edited the host_venue tag in client_state.xml and
sched_request_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml and changed "home" to "work".

After exiting BOINC and restarting it, I now get:
--- - 2005-01-24 10:37:27 - Starting BOINC client version 4.13 for windows_intelx86
SETI@home - 2005-01-24 10:37:27 - Project prefs: no separate prefs for work; using your defaults
SETI@home - 2005-01-24 10:37:27 - Host ID is 492218
--- - 2005-01-24 10:37:27 - General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2005-01-23 18:05:29)
--- - 2005-01-24 10:37:27 - General prefs: using separate prefs for work

It remains to be seen if this causes the client to behave the way I need it.
