No, SETI@Home has never offered such abilities in their program. SETI Classic (now closed down) had an add-on program that allowed you to listen to the workunits, but that program is not compatible with the new BOINC-SETI.

This has been requested a few other times. Generally speaking, it really isn't worth the time to program such a novelty idea into the science app when most people would turn it off or not even use it.

Why would you want to listen to static? Maybe it would sound like it did in the movie Independence Day?

As they said for the Alien (or Aliens) movie - "In space nobody can hear you scream" :-)

Or you could just go to Space Sounds and hear what you might be looking for.

Hi Pooh Bear,

I tried that link (but not all of them on the menu). The intro doesn't sound anything like the one from Independence Day, more like a Sputnik sound to me :-)

If you are like me then you spend most of the time cruching data while sleeping so this really would be a pointless application :-)
