Hi everyone. I've been trying to attach the SETI@home project to my linux computer, but it keeps returning the error "unable to contact server" or something like that. Did the whole apt-get install, and it went fine. I can get into the BOINC Manager just fine and attach to other projects with no problem. I dont want them, I want SETI like I have on all my other boxes (folding proteins and chess simulators...ehhhh :\\, 'E.T. Phone us' ahhhhh :) ) Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Dan "Do or do not. There is no try." - Master Yoda |

My Windows partition communicated with the server just fine. Tried at again, but this time it said my boinc manager wasnt attached to a client and to enter localhost. Did that, didnt fix the problem. shutdown/restart blah blah blah, didnt help either. I decided to not be so stubborn and just reinstall the package through package manager rather than console. It worked. Incomplete d/l or install maybe? "Do or do not. There is no try." - Master Yoda |

Try uninstalling all BOINC and seti packages and then reinstall just the boinc client and manager. The repositories have some other "boinc-app-seti" package that I originally installed and it was apparently causing problems. Jason |

So now I just use the windows Bionc & do work on the same task. I am using the latest version of wine. hope this helps |
