Hello
I have been running seti@home Boinc for about 2 weeks now.Over last few days I have noticed I am not getting much credit at all.I am running seti at 100% and I am running duel processors on a 2.8ghz pc with 80 gb hard drive and 520 ram.I am doing around 18-20 wu's a day.I am running 4.09.Last few days hardly any credit has been added etc.Are you having this prob?Is it caused by 4.09 which I was told to download a few days ago? What credit if any are you getting if you are running seti@home Boinc? My stats have a horrible 0 for yesterdays credir even though I have been continully crunching. Is it because seti@home cannot keep up with the results or something wronh with 4.09 as I noticed this as soon as I had downloaded the 4.09 programme.

Rachel,

The credit issuing process takes time. The work is issued to 3 people, then all three have to process the work, then all 3 have to successsfully report back the results, these results have to compare to each other otherwise the work is re-issued until a match is made ...

Now, we also have been having some back-end processing problems and this is also impacting on the process. It is taking longer. In SETI@Home Classic, you did the work and got instant gratification cause all they did was count the number of WU you processed and returned.

Now we are imposing more discipline in the process and as a by-product we have a slower accumulation. So, it is entirely possible that you can process for some time and will see little or no change. But it comes in waves. WIth all of the current debates going on, well, for me it has become a dead issue and I am now going "credit-less" in my signature ... :)

Hi Rachel,

Having 0 credits for a single day is quite possible when running only one computer. For that matter, even possible running multiple computers.

As Paul mentioned it is the way that credits are issued and validated, that would appear to be the correct senario in your case.

I would think that most of us have switched from v4.05 to v4.09 at this time, including myself. I am running two HT systems very similar to yours and am receiving credits on both of them using v4.09 with Windows XP GUI.

Hi Rach

I joined SETI/BOINC on 08/09/2004, coming over from SET Classic. I started with BOINC 3.20, went through the Win9x/4.05 problems, went through the 4.06-4.08 alphas, and finally went to 4.09 when it became public, on 09/17/2004. For me, 4.09 seems the best yet, since I have had no problems with it.

I have been receiving credit right along. I've gone from about 1078 to about 1503 credits over the last several days. Most of the time, now, my result uploads complete successfully, as do my manual updates. I do a manual update when I see a "Ready to report" status on a work unit, and I'm on an "aways on" connection (my university LAN).

I run a single 1.7GHz AMD Athlon XP 3100+ processor with 512MB RAM (with only 480MB available, thanks to the cheezy vidio), and Win98SE with all current security updates.

Cheers,

Stephen
