Hello
I have been running seti@home Boinc for about 2 weeks now.Over last few days I have noticed I am not getting much credit at all.I am running seti at 100% and I am running duel processors on a 2.8ghz pc with 80 gb hard drive and 520 ram.I am doing around 18-20 wu's a day.I am running 4.09.Last few days hardly any credit has been added etc.Are you having this prob?Is it caused by 4.09 which I was told to download a few days ago?What credit if any are you getting if you are running seti@home Boinc?My stats have a horrible 0 for yesterdays credir even though I have been continully crunching.Is it because seti@home cannot keep up with the results or something wronh with 4.09 as I noticed this as soon as I had downloaded the 4.09 programme.

Remember that three people must return a matching result before credit is granted to anyone.

So, if you're crunching like crazy, and other work units are given to slowpokes, that'll slow down credit.

Also, the validators have to be running to get credit, and they may have been down. They'll catch up, but it takes time.

I haven't been paying real close attention, but I've received credits over the past few days...

Ned atm, I crunched over 60WUs and got very very very little/noticable credit from them. From crunching LHC@HOME I noticed my faster cpu only gets 7whole credits and thats it! for 1WU but my very slow 800mhz gets 30credit for 1 WU, so atm faster cpus also get less credit I think anyways

There is a whole different question about how much credit someone gets, and rather than explain it, you may want to check Paul Buck's FAQ:

Follow the defined words down too ... there is a lot of additional information in Glossary and Index ...

Hi

Rachel
What i can see on your stats is that you are getting credits permanently.
But your recent average credit is to low to get more i think.
Your rac is 59 and you get between 50 and 100 credits daily.
My rac is 433 and i get 300 to 500 daily when your rac rises you will get more.
It tooks time but it will go faster.

@Mike...

I'm confused with what your saying Mike "your RAC is to Low to get more Credit", why do you think a person's RAC is Low in the first place, it's because they don't turn in enough work units per day to get a high RAC in the first place.

RAC isn't something thats awarded for how many days you've been a member of the Forum or since joining BOINC. Rachel has 1 Computer listed in her Account, her RAC will never be as high as somebody with 3 or 4 Computers...

They only way you get a high or higher RAC is by turning more Work Units per day & which is the main driving force behind receiving more Credits, ie if you only turn in 10 a day verses 40 a day your going to have a low RAC with the 10 and a higher RAC with the 40 per day.

You can sit there forever turning in 10 a day and your RAC is never going to be higher than what level 10 a day will get you to. The people have to realize the simple fact is if you don't have the capability to turn in a large number of WU's per day then they will never have a high RAC, it's as simple as that.

RAC is something I wish they would just do away with as all it does is lead to a lot of confusion for a lot of people, I don't care if Joe Blow has a higher RAC here than me, maybe this is the only Project he's running while I'm running 2 or 3 different Projects. Well naturally his RAC is going to be higher than mine if he has the Computers to make is so.

Also you see somebody with 39.57 Total Credits & a 257.39 RAC, like D'oh really...Looks good to me... ;)

Can anybody tell me what the RAC should be with 1 computer turning in 4 WU's/day?

and rachel has a faster one
==========

That may be true but how many hours a day does she run Seti with it. If she only runs 8 hours a day then she's getting 1/3 the RAC she would get by running it 24 hr's a day.

But there are a lot of people like that doing their bit by just running a few hr's a day, you'll never know the true RAC potential of a Computer unless you run it 24/7 for at least 3-4 weeks and maybe longer to reach the highest level of RAC that the Computer is Capable of.

And then once you get there if you don't keep running it 24/7 then thers no where to go but down with the RAC...

Hi

But so you can read in rachels post she made 18-20 WUs a day her machine runs 24/7 houres because its double than mine.
I send 8-10 WUs a day with AMD 2800+.
So my calculation could not be so wrong.

hi Rachel,
i have with an P4 3.2 an RAC from 180, running 24/7 hours, so i think you will be able to get a RAC from 150, if your PC is running 24/7 hours, why not S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club m7 ©

I have 6 copmupters. 3 of them run all the time. I have RAC of 33. I'm BOINC user from 4th of September and have total credit just 484. There are just 2 explanations. Or the credit system is not fair, or there are many slow motions users.
