Sorry to bring this back, but my Penny is really starting to crank up now using the AK port of the 4.1 code.

The porting teak really kick, even though it has taken time for my Quad to show it.

After you have a good baseline established on it, you may want to give the SSS3x code a go......the Phased Penny actually seemed to do just a teeny bit better with it than the 4.1 version.........
Depends on your mobo and RAM setup I think........

We might take you up on that Mark. But, the graph in BOINC Manager is still heading upwards strongly. So, that may be a few weeks off yet.

Well......I wouldn't use your RAC to compare anyway...it responds too slowly..just switch over and keep notes on the crunch times you get for various point value WUs.......you should be able to see a difference in a short while that way......and your graph will still continue to climb........

... I also use DDR3 RAM (2Gig)...

Aaaah, the Penny drops ;D, Might watch and see if some theories hold about that...

I will wait with interesting when you vocalise them, assuming you look at a combination of OS and RAM versus different Angle Ranges.

I am keeping with the current setup to see where the RAC settles at. After that, we will see.

Oh...and just a reminder....don't forget that if you switch from the 4.1 app to the 3x app, you have to switch to the correct app_info file as well......I made that mistake once....only changed out the app itself.

Well, they aren't secret theories I suppose.

If you switched to SSSE3x and it was any faster on your machine it *might* demonstrate one theory, that the bus utilisation is high (quite possible with an OC that high IMO), and relieving that pressure using the x build is supposed to help in cases like that. On the other hand if the SSSE3x is same speed or slightly slower overall, then It might demonstrate that DDR3 is actually worth the $$$, and that the more bandwidth hungry sse4.1 app appreciates it...

Give me time to see the RAC settle for a few days, then I will post when I switch over. Taking care to use the correct App_info file, as Mark points out.
