My seti file is ready to run,but I cant get it to.How do i get it to run??? I presume you’re seeing that status in the Tasks pane, and that you’re not running any other BOINC projects. The first thing to look at would be the Activity menu: it should be set to either “Run always†or “Run according to preferencesâ€Â. Also check in the Projects pane to make sure SETI@home isn’t suspended. If the Activity menu is on “Run always†and nothing’s happening, then there’s a problem of some kind. Please quit BOINC, relaunch it, and post the first screenful or so of log from the Messages pane. If you’re on “Run according to preferencesâ€Â, there are a few settings that could be involved. If you’re set not to run while the computer is in use (I believe this is the default), try waiting three minutes, without moving the mouse, and see if processing starts. If you’re not that patient ;) try switching to “Run alwaysâ€Â. Most people find they can set their preferences to run while the system’s in use without any effect on their other activities, except perhaps for CPU-hungry gaming, video-editing, and the like. You still have the option of pausing or suspending BOINC before starting such programs. Otherwise, check the other preferences for anything that may be limiting BOINC to a certain time of day, a minimum of free RAM, or the like. Please post back if you’re still stuck. And welcome to the project! @Mods, you may want to move this topic to “Getting Startedâ€Â. |
