How about a button or settings menu option.

Once chosen, all projects would be run to a 'save' point and halted.

I would then be informed.

This way I could reboot without having to lose crunch time.

Possible?

Or make the crunching program save when it gets a call to shutdown,
thus, when you decide you want to reboot your machine, BOINC will
send the command to the crunching program and the progress will be saved
