Been like it for almost 2h 30m, i'm sure if the guys check on things over the internet, they'll see whats wrong and give the server a good cyber kick!

No need to worry about things though. Just leave alone and when the servers get fixed (tomorrow now?) the upload will happen. Assume you have a small cache of work to be getting on with (I don't even know if d/l is broken or not?)

From my logs I reckon the upload server (?) has been down since about 0700Z which was the time of my first failed upload. Like you, the downloading new units is not a problem. The server stats page has a green board.

Could be a log jam due to a large number of short work units in the system, since I've been typing this 1 unit has managed to get through.

That's because the Server Status page hasn't updated since 09:20 UTC (i.e. about 5 hours ago).

Aye, I have some rigs all in upload status, some ready to report status, some a mix of both. OK I guess I do not know what I thought I did. What is upload status vs. ready to report? Also, what ever is being reported, I am not seeing anything at the reported times showing up as pending or validated. Thank you & /salute

Looks like the whole shebang is constipated. Just managed to upload about 10 WU's but they are taking forever to validate. No doubt we'll be getting a flurry of "Why are my WU's still pending?" soon.

I wish It were only 7 here, On just one PC I have 15 and I have 3 PCs all blocked so far 12 on another PC and 16 on the last one and It's slowly uploading, with lots of http errors of course, So all I can do is wait.

Once upon a time, there was a simple LAN designed and distributed by IBM.

It worked pretty well for a half-dozen or so computers on thin-coax ethernet, but each machine had to locate resources independently, and that meant the computers were pretty "chatty."

Then, Microsoft came out with Windows for Workgroups, and they "adopted" the IBM LAN, and they added "browsers" that kept track of all of the resources. The master browser had a current list of everything available.

... but it didn't scale well, so Microsoft, in their infinite wizdum, decided to push the whole shebang into DNS, and do it there.

Basically, if you are running Active Directory, /registerdns makes sure your IP address and machine name shows up in the DNS zone for the LAN.

If you aren't running a server with Active Directory (a simple home LAN mostly to share internet access) then /registerdns doesn't really do anything.

/flushdns is another story. If Microsoft's DNS honored TTL, Windows would do this frequently and automatically.

Hmmm...

That's being a little harsh, the Browser service works fine for single segment LANs and is performance tweakable to an extent for dealing with the chatty nature of the protocal. IIRC MS came up with WINS before they added DNS for Hostname resolution, both of which are to address scaling issues on larger routed networks.

Also, I think on closer examination one will find that as much of the problem is DNS caches on ISP servers along the way to the project not honoring the TTL for entries as much as Windows is.

In any event here's a link to a KB article to deal with it as much as you can on your WinBox.

One other trick which might help in this is to use a DNS server more oriented to keeping their records current than saving on maitenance overhead traffic bandwidth. I've been using OpenDNS for a while and haven't had this kind of problem since I started using it. Of course my RR provider was pretty good about this issue as well.
