Hi, I know that lots of us in here are very intelligent, especially when it comes to computers, the internet, and technology. I have found something fascinating -- its my new toy this weekend lol. an online operating system... free to use.. and open source. I wonder if these things will really take-off in the near future? an OS you can access from any internet connected computer what has a modern web browser. Check it out: eyeos.gliesegroup.co.uk You dont have to register or anything... just enter a name and password and your logged in. theres web browsers, office apps etc. I'd be interested in knowing what other people think to this new era of online operating systems. All the best... and to the mothers in here, Happy Mothers Day for Sunday! - James |

Hi, Hey your welcome ;) .... I wonder if a SETI@home client could be developed for an online operating system, because wouldnt that be very powerful and generate lots of data results.... as the seti@home would be run on multiple servers... hmmm I wonder. |

Thanks for the link. It's kinda funny. The other night I actually thought that this idea would be cool, not knowing that someone had actually done it. It works great and is very simple as well. Thanks for the link. I'll be checking it out. |

I don't think it'll catch on as much more than a computer science theory project. It defeats the purpose of having decent hardware on your own machine and limits you to your bandwidth for other things. For example, I can't see a hard-core gamer or other heavy graphics user trying to use anything like this. And, with the apps available over the net, I can't see it being useful to anyone who has internet security as a priority. |
