Hi,

I found a project free for joining, your helping to find exo planets. Can BOINC make it work on his clients? I would like to crunch along with these guy's, but don't want to change crunchclient, BOINC is good for me. I already run SETI@Home, other project are still in test mode or request you to donate money in order to crunch.

http://www.transitsearch.org/

Hope BOINC team can help.

Kind regards,

Mark Peters

It's not up to BOINC to make a new project. It's up to the project to decide if they want to use BOINC as the software for their distributed computing.

Looking at the project, I don't think it can be converted to BOINC as the actual searching is done by eye, not completely computer as you need a telescope with an accurate clock drive, a CCD camera and their appropriate computer software.

Ok thanks.
Hopefully they come up with another project for the search of exo planets. I do know how important it is to get sponsors, but to crunsh data and find a habital planet like Earth is a project that benefits all man kind (Science at least). Should be for free or NASA/PlanetQuest is taking a wrong turn some where, am I wrong with my limited overview for projects? Is there a project like this coming up some time soon?

The only BOINC Project I know about that is for searching for Planets is Planet Quest. However, it is not even in Beta testing yet.

Hi Mark,

As John pointed out they are not testing yet (actually not even up to alpha test) as far as I know. Here is a link to their web site.
