Just finished: BOS (BOINC Online Schedulers) SL Edition :)

Placed right outside my mall, BOS SL will give you the opportunity to see the online status of the BOINC projects when you are online in SL.

It works just like a multi-item vendor - use the arrows to flip through the projects to see their online status. Later an option to select project directly through menu will be added.

It updates every 30 minutes (smaller intervals would be unsuitable in there).

Just go here in Valeriya, and spin around until you see it :)

If I understand you correctly, BOS updates somewhat like the SETI@work site, by querying the SETI@home data base? If so, a longer period for updating might be a good idea. Creating stress on the servers can be lessened, thereby. (The SETI@work site updates at 3 hour intervals when the data base is available.)

Please don't think that I am against the idea of BOS. Indeed, I think it's a wunnerful idea. Thank you for creating it.

The actual BOS script runs from my server, and polls the scheduler URL only to see if it responds - those polls don't generate any queries on the BIONC project's databases.

The script on SecondLife only polls my own server which already has the poll results stored in my own database from the polls mentioned above. So the SL script doesn't generate queries on the BOINC project's databases either - only on my server.

Just below the "BOS" sign you will see some green text - this text tells you which project is shown. Something like "SETI@Home - Online - 45/59". 45/59 is just project 45 of 59 alphabetically.

There's an error in the current version, though. I split up the script in two, to make sure the screen would still be functional while updates where fetched, but somehow communications between prims got buggy. But I'll look into that, and see if I can lower the position of the green text (the later is probably not possible due to limitations in lsl).
