Great show.

I'm going to have to go about acquiring a copy of it for showing others and sharing. A benefit to the show is that, because its so new, it contains a great picture of the current theories as well as necessary background on things. I'm sure a lot of people saw things they had heard about in the news but didn't understand a specific discovery's relevance. The show does a good job tieing those kind've things together.

Also, it keeps its feet firmly planted in science, something NOVA shows are good about. When talking about potential planets with life, hypothetical figures are presented as such, and there's a clear line between fact and speculation. As a critical viewer, I am often suspicious of shows trying to slight-of-hand speculation as fact or as a given. I was pleased to have no such concerns while viewing Origins, which further moves me to go about sharing the mini-series.

Finally, in the closing of the 4th part, before Tyson's closing, there was a gentleman talking about the progress made in the last 10 years, and about the results from MAP (COBE's successor). He seemed to be so moved by mankind's progress -- I could really sense the tension in his voice, as if he was on the verge of tears.

I was touched to see someone holding such hopes and dreams for mankind.

Peace,
Damacus
